Was this the same Jesse Davidson who married Margaret Childs? Who was this Catherine Davidson?
Hi, I am trying to sort out the various Davidson families who lived in Gibson County, TN. Gibson county seems to have been a place where many Davidson families congregated. Some just seem to have passed through. Others have been there 150 years. I have tried to make sense of the data a couple of times before but with the re-use of the same names and such, my head hurts every time I try to make some progress. I am focused on this in part to attempt to sort out a couple of specific lines from the "Import John" family. Hopefully, some people have some genealogies where they have sorted out some of the families and thereby by process of elimination, I can reduce the number of families that are problems. If you have any data that you could share, please get in touch with me. From the 1850 census, I have found two families that I would like to sort out: p209a/1179/13th District Davidson, Mary 76 f w North Carolina Davidson, Anne 50 f w North Carolina Davidson, Margaret 44 f w North Carolina Davidson, Caroline 26 f w Tennessee I cannot connect this widow Mary to any of the families that I documenting. It seems from looking at the 1840 census, that she was not living in Gibson in 1840. p209b/1187/13th District Davidson, R. (Richard Davidson) 52 m w North Carolina Davidson, Margaret (Margaret Nickson) 35 f w Tennessee (m 10 Mar 1842 Rutherford Co Tn) Davidson, Ellen 20 f w Tennessee Davidson, Nancy 14 f w Tennessee Davidson, Richard 12 m w Tennessee Davidson, Robert 06 m w Tennessee Davidson, Joel (or Joseph Davidson) 04 m w Tennessee Davidson, Greenberry (or Granbury) 02 m w Tennessee (Davidson-L) (1850 Gibson Co Tn) (1860 Gibson Co Tn) It looks like from Mary's notes on the Research site that this data came from a list member. (Mary, please note that Richard was not in Gibson in 1860, but in Scott county, Missouri.) This again does not look like a member of the Import John family. He was in Rutherford county in 1830 and 1840. Thanks, john.
