Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FNR.2ACEB/3241.1 Message Board Post: The following may not mean anything, but Josiah Davidson (born about 1791) from VA and then TN, died rather young in Limestone Co., AL around 1825. His widow, Elizabeth (Hardiman) Davidson appeared on the 1840-1870 Limestone censuses, but she did not appear on the 1830 Limestone census. I do not see any Davidson man on the Limestone census in 1830 who seems to have a wife plus another female of Elizabeth's age in his home. In "next-door" Lawrence Co., AL, however, it appears that your Jesse Davidson has two older females, one of whom could have been Jesse's wife and an older one who COULD have been the widow Elizabeth Davidson. Do you have any other explanation for the second adult women in Jesse's home in 1840? Of course, there could have been a Hardiman relative (versus a Davidson) in that area of AL who took Elizabeth in after her husband Josiah Davidson died. Several of the Davidsons from VA (from the family that was in Buckingham Co., VA, starting in 1761) eventually went to the Limestone, Madison, Marshall and Morgan Co., AL area. I do not know, however, if the Davidsons in Lawrence Co., AL were their relatives. Like you, I cannot find "your" Jesse Davidson in 1850. Comments?
Elizabeth Davidson of Limestone county AL. was given a land patent of 39.89 acres in April 1850 signed by Zachary Taylor if any relatives are interested, you can go to this address and download it. this site has thousands of land patents for the viewing or downloading.
