I have been researching this side of my family for years. I am stuck on the parents of John Davidson. I recently received all of his Civil War documentation and would be happy to share any infor. He stated in a letter to the Pension Board that his mother died shortly after his birth and his father a year later. He was raised by his grandmother, name uncertain, until he was 16 when she died. I found him at age 17 in State Line City, IL. He was married prior to Martha, which came as a big surprise. His first wife died shortly after they were married. He stated in the letter there was no family bible, record of his birth. However, he has to be in the census, but man he is difficult to find. Anyway, I have tons of documentation.
