I would like to encourage other Davidson researchers to participate in the FTDNA Davidson/Davison project. The DNA test must be given by a male Davidson. However, females can order the kit for a male Davidson to submit for research. Today, all 37 of my markers have been placed with a family group. I (we) have a couple of exact matches. Maybe more. Exact matches means there is a mutual direct ancestor. Now the fun begins in finding the patriarch male Davidson in my family. I am pleased to say one of my matches is someone I have been working with for a long time. We felt sure we were related -- this DNA test proves it. It is a great opportunity and I am already hearing from researchers looking for the same Davidson ancestors. Long way to fine tuning things -- but I consider this project a big success. It is far more than a shot in the dark. I cannot say enough for the people who are volunteering their time for the Davidson project. They have helped me with ever question -- within the day.
