His apparent brother named David Davidson was already in Grainger by at least 1802, but I don't know how long David had been there. David had lived in Stokes Co., NC prior to moving to Grainger Co., TN. I have seen the record of your Blair/Blane Davidson/Darkis Cunningham marriage in 1800. I have also seen the Grainger marriages of Abner Davidson to Anney Evans in 1802 and Alexander Davidson to Patsey Smith in 1803. Do you think that these last two Davidsons were related to your Davidsons? A William Davidson married a Hanna Oaks in Grainger in 1804, and Nancy Davidson married a Richard Fields there in 1806. I SUSPECT that these two marriages (and almost certainly the last one in 1806, based on the Fields surname) DID involve members of the "Patrick Co., VA Davidsons." It appears that David and Goulder Davidson, as well as their apparent brothers John Davidson, Richard Davidson and William Davidson, Junior, were all sons of a William Davidson, Senior who had come to Pittsylvania/Henry/Patrick Co., VA in the late 1760s from Buckingham Co., VA. If David Davidson and/or his descendants were in Grainger by 1800, then MAYBE he could have been a member of your family, but I simply have no proof of that. David appears to have sold his land in Stokes Co., NC in 1802, but that deed record showed that he was ALREADY living in Grainger at that time (but I don't know how long he had been there). There was also an Edward Davidson, a John Davidson and a Briant/Bryant Davidson in Grainger in the early 1800s, and some believe that they were related to David Davidson. We have DNA results from a William Davidson who was in Orange Co., NC by 1780. My research strongly suggests that he was probably the brother named William Davidson, Junior mentioned above. Do you know of any living male Davidsons from your family who could join the DNA testing project?
