That is apparently an error that has been around for quite some time. Per this researcher, the only sons of Joseph and Mary were John and David Davidson (and neither son fathered any sons of their own). Joseph Davidson had three brothers who were named James "II," Daniel and William.....all sons of James Davidson "I." Also, despite what some people have claimed, there is NO proof whatsoever as to the father of James Davidson "I" at this time. The parents of William "Billy" Davidson have not been proven. The family that included the above Joseph, James, Daniel and William Davidson is represented by "Family 13" on the Davidson/Davison/Davisson DNA website at www.davidsongenes.org. I highly encourage you to take the DNA test yourself (37 markers recommended) to see if you match or don't match the existing male donors in Family 13 at this time. They all can trace their lines back to the above family of James Davidson "I." Your DNA might represent the last hope of determining the lineage of your Billy Davidson, once and for all.
