There is a "new" program coming called newfamilysearch. I have been working on the "Beta" site for over a year. There is a problem, if I enter or change data on an individual such as putting an H as the middle inital for James Davidson, it can change my entire pedigree including all of the generations above. The same for adding a wife, Margaret Goldman or Margaret Dyer. Some of our cousins have entered both. I think this is where we need to look at our data and determine if it was copied from some well-meaning researcher or someone antious to become DAR? Whatever reason it makes a big difference. I am fortunate to have 3 Davidson lines. James I of VA is my direct, Colonel Wm Lee of VA/NC/TN is the second and Alexander of Campbell County, VA is the third so far! I saw a document that stated that James and William obtained their 640 acres in 1788. I don't know about James but it is true that one William Davidson bought 640 acres North of the Clinch but did not take possession until 1802? I find no records between 1788 and 1802. I believe the Colonel was busy in Buncombe County, NC until @ 1795 when the Davidsons Vances and Alexanders moved to Knox Co TN from Asheville. Morgan Davidson from Morgan County TN gave me a copy of his notes. Several entries gave the Colonel having been born in VA/Scotland. Also that Elizabeth was his wife and they had Samuel, Joseph JAMES, Mosias Jones, Teliatha/Tabitha who married Garret Hall, William Jr and possibly others. They also state that he was the son of Samuel, John and William. Now these are direct descendants of the Colonel! My best guess is Samuel was the father of the Colonel, George is the father of the General and John is the father of the Major. Here is the Dead End? Does anybody know?!! Could the Colonel be a brother to James I or James II? The Colonel was supposedly born in 1746. Samuel was with the Colonel in 1792 and there is a Samuel in Anderson County TN in 1850 living with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. William born in NC in 1792 is married to ANNA Nickle. Her son John was spelled Nichols. Their mother Rachel Haslet Nickle was living with John and Lodemy Oliver. Wm and Anna purchased the 640 acres in 1848 that had been sold to Samuel, James and Mosias Jones in 1802 listing them as heirs of the Colonel. Can anyone expound upon this information?
