Would anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to find any info in California on this fellow? Background: He was the youngest of 6 children all born in Ohio. Their dad was a builder and when things were tough in Ohio in the late 30's dad took a job in New Orleans. As was his custom, dad took all 6 kids and his wife with him on all of his jobs. When in NOLA, one daughter (my grandmother) and two of her brothers stayed in NOLA. When the job was finished, only one daughter along with two brothers went back to Ohio with their parents as they were the youngest. The youngest of these brothers was John Calvin Davidson who was always called JC by the family to differentiate from his father John Calvin Davidson. When JC was only 20, he took off for California to become a "movie star". He had some success as he was in the movie "Rosalie" along with Nelson Eddy and Eleanor Powell. He may have been in more movies but the article that told me about the movie Rosalie only listed that movie. His "stage" name was Calvin Emery which was his middle name and his mother's maiden name. Family lore says that he was killed in an auto accident in the mountains going to visit his Uncle Angus in July of 1957. JC was born in Aug of 1913. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as the senior member of this family is 88 (and in Ohio) and I would like to be able to give her this info before she passes over the rainbow bridge. If you search for Davidson you will find a listing for Calvin Emery Davidson born 8/31/1913, died 07/27/1957 in Riverside County, California. You can order the death certificate on that website.
