This shows Nathan (age 28) as being from MS, and as living in the Missouri District of Clark Co., AR in 1850 (and it shows his wife as Mary). I note that someone has shown this Nathan Davidson as Nathan C. Davidson on this transcription (but that middle initial was almost certainly not on the original census itself). I note that an Elisha J. Davidson (age 25) lived in the William Johnson household next-door to Nathan and Mary. Could that have been a brother/cousin/nephew of Nathan's? You will also see that some young Davidsons lived in the home of William Thetford in Clark County in 1850, and this transcription shows them as children of a William Davidson and his wife Mary Sturdivant. I do not know if this William Davidson was related to your Nathan C. Davidson. At the top of the 1850 Clark County information is a "Tyra" Davidson (male; age 40...the 1840 census in MS, however, shows his name "Tyre"). He was shown as having been born in MS, and he was also shown on the 1840 Newton Co., MS census (I wonder if your Nathan was also living in Newton in 1840)? The 1840 MS census (including Newton County) can be found here: http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~genea/Dms1840.html, and I note that both Tyra Davidson and one of the two William Davidsons had males in their homes who were age 15-20 in 1840 (and Nathan would have been about 18 in 1840). Here is the 1850 Clark Co., AR census transcription. http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~genea/Dar1850.html Do you know any living male Davidsons from your family who could join the Davidson DNA testing project? Such a test could very well "connect" your/this Davidson family back several more generations. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
