I think it is probably even more difficult as this Jesse does not seem to have appeared on the 1850 census (not that I have been able to locate anyhow). It seems likely that he was in Illinois by 1850 as his first land purchase in Pope County is made then. Perhaps he had not settled in from his move from TN so he was not recorded??? Jesse would be the brother of my ancestor, Delila Davidson Thomas who made her home in Dickson County. Thomas Davidson and Sarah, parents of Jesse, Delila (married John W.
