That George Davidson in Albemarle Co., VA married Mary Woods, and he was SUPPOSEDLY one of the sons of the Samuel Davidson who was first found in the Beverly Manor section of Augusta Co., VA. That Samuel Davidson was a member of "DNA Family 1," and this is the same overall Davidson family as the family of Rev. War hero General William Lee Davidson, after whom the counties in NC and TN were named (ditto the college in NC). It is believed that the Samuel Davidson in Beverly Manor was a brother of "Importation" John Davidson who came to that part of VA from PA. General William Lee Davidson was a son of the George Davidson who was also up in PA, and that George Davidson is the known/proven brother of "Importation" John Davidson. A descendant of the APPARENT brother named Samuel took the DNA test (I think that this DNA donor is out of Samuel's son named Benjamin), and this donor matched "Family 1." This was the first "concrete proof" that this Samuel Davidson in Beverly Manor was at least part of this overall Davidson family.....whether or not he was actually a BROTHER of "Import John" and George). John Lisle, who heads-up the Davidson/Davison/Davisson DNA website, is a descendant of "Family 1," and he has an excellent website on his Davidson family. John Lisle shows the above George Davidson of Albemarle Co., VA as a son of the above Samuel Davidson of Beverly Manor, but if I recall correctly, John Lisle has no actual PROOF that this George Davidson was a son of Samuel Davidson of Beverly Manor, nor that George was even absolutely/positively part of "Family 1" (though that certainly seems likely). You can see this George Davidson of Albemarle Co., VA on John Lisle's website here: http://www.lislefamily.org/davidson/tng/getperson.php?personID=I10502&tree=davidson_main This website shows that George had a son who was also named George, but this also shows that this son named George died young. It could be, however, that one of the BROTHERS of the older George Davidson in Albemarle Co., VA had a son around 1751 in that county who was also named George, and who served in the war (and who lived to old age). As you can see from the above link, these brothers of George were: John, James, Benjamin, JESSE and William (so this family did use "Jesse" as a given name). I just glanced at this briefly on the referenced website, and it appeared that there is little if any information on the children for at least some of these brothers. Comments?
