There were at least three, and may four, separate/unrelated Davidson/Davison families in Botetourt/Rockbridge in the 1700s. These included members of my "Family 10," "Family 12" and "Family 16"...the fourth potential Davidson family line, headed by a John Davidson (he left his will in Rockbridge in 1802 as an old man) and his wife Mary Allison, has no one in the DNA test at this time. "Family 12" was the family that intermarried with the Gilmore family in the Augusta/Botetourt/Rockbridge area on more than one occasion. I don't recall a George Davidson or a Matthew Gilmore, however, in those families. Can you "place" the Matthew Gilmore that you mentioned in the Botetourt/Rockbridge area?
