    3. Laroice, The David Davidson/Davison who married Elizabeth Cochran/Cockrane/Cockran in Bedford Co., VA in 1779 was almost certainly a member of "Family 7....not "Family 4." Your David Davison and his wife Elizabeth UNKNOWN had their son Philemon Davison in PA around 1785, and I just do not see any "connection" between them and the family in Bedford Co., VA (other than the similar names and the fact that both families came from PA....which probably led to this confusion). The David Davison in Bedford Co., VA had an apparent brother who was named James Davison, Junior, and James "Junior" married Elizabeth's sister named Jane/Janet Cochran....also in Bedford Co., VA, and also in 1779 (and James "Junior" apparently moved to GA for a while, before returning to VA). The father of this David Davison and James Davison, Junior was an older James Davison, Senior who came to VA from PA (he provided surety for both of his son's weddings to the Cockrane sisters). Another son of this James Davison, Senior was named Samuel Davison, and he eventually moved to TN and then to Indiana, as I recall. Just like "Family 4," we now have quite a few DNA donors in "Family 7." Note: There were at least THREE unrelated Davidson/Davison families in the Bedford/Campbell Co., VA area in the late-1700s (including a branch of my "Family 10"), so one has to be careful not to incorrectly "intermix" the various families with that surname in that area of VA. The same is true for the Grainger Co., TN area, where the above-referenced Samuel Davison lived for a while (ditto a branch of my "Family 10"). It does not APPEAR to me, however, that your family was in either of those two areas. Comments/questions? Best regards, Bill Davidson

    3. Hi Bill, So do you think that kit number 78574 in family 4 should be in family 7? These are comments from Family 4 DNA page and what I was using. General Comments: Believe David's wife's name was Elizabeth (possibly Cochran but unproven). Believe she was his second wife as son Thomas seems to have been born before that marriage. David and Elizabeth show up in Washington Co., Ky. in the late 1790s. Then in Breckinridge County in 1800 and 1810. Totally lose them after 1810. Their children were: Thomas (maybe Thomas Jefferson), b. 1775 Philemon, b. 1785 in "Western Pennsylvania, married Catherine Clarke William M., b. 1787, married Mary Celia Hardin Mary (also seen as Polly), b. 1791, married John Miller Nancy, b. 1794, married Bartlett Angel Basham, III Crable, b. 1796, married Sophia Unknown Rebecca, b. 1799, married Hiram Miller Searching all lines backwards and forwards. 3. Bill, Do you know to whom the James Senior in SWVA was married? As you know James and William was a popular name. There was an Alexander Davidson in Campbell County, VA whose daughter, Susannah, married John Dickey. Samuel Davidson born in VA 1772 moved to Anderson County, TN in 1830/40. He is in the 1850 Census. He married Elizabeth Russell in Knox County in 1835. I have not death date which should be after 1850 There was an Alexander Davidson in Anderson County in 1850. Was he related to Alexander Davidson from Campbell County? His granddaught Permelia Jane Taylor married Samuel Taylor also from Campbell Co before 1820 when they moved to TN. > From: tunnelm@verizon.net > To: davidson@rootsweb.com > Date: Tue, 12 Jan 2010 08:33:23 -0500 > Subject: Re: [DAVIDSON] William Davidson > > Laroice, > > The David Davidson/Davison who married Elizabeth Cochran/Cockrane/Cockran in > Bedford Co., VA in 1779 was almost certainly a member of "Family 7....not > "Family 4."
