    3. Philip, 1) James Davidson "I" of Big Mocassin Gap in VA is "DNA Family 13." 2) Samuel Davidson of Beverly Manor/Augusta Co., VA is "DNA Family 1" (he was an apparent brother of "Import" John Davidson who married Jane, as well as an apparent brother of the George Davidson who was the father of Rev. War hero General William Lee Davidson). It appears that Colonel William Lee Davidson of Morgan Co., TN probably also came from "Family 1," as I understand it. 3) Alexander Davidson of Campbell Co., VA has no proven descendant in the DNA project at this time (but as stated before, he MIGHT have been part of "DNA Family 12"...maybe someday we will have one of his proven descendants take the DNA test). Note: The "primary clues" that suggest that Alexander Davidson MIGHT have been a member of "Family 12" are: 1) Alexander's son John left Campbell Co., VA and migrated to KY, and the donor with kit 63783 in "Family 12" traces back to a later (apparently) John Davidson in KY. 2) Alexander Davidson had at least two female descendants in VA, as I recall, with the given middle name of "Steel/Steele," and the John Davidson in KY to whom the donor with kit 63783 "traces back" had a son named Alexander Steel/Steele Davidson. We suspect that the wife of Alexander Davidson in Campbell Co., VA who was named Elizabeth had the maiden name of "Steel/Steele"....but no proof. No "connection" in America between the family of kit 63783 and the family of the other kit in "Family 12" (which traces back to an early Robert Davidson) has been found. As such, the "most recent common male Davidson ancestor" between these two DNA donors COULD have been on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean (but more research up in PA might reveal more information) Bill

    3. In reference to the Alexander Davidson whose wife was Elizabeth: You might be on to something because their daughter was Elizabeth Steele Dickey who married John Dickey of Campbell County VA. They had two daughters Permelia and Elizabeth Steele Dickey who married Samuel Taylor. I believe Permelia married Samuels brother James Milton Taylor; I have no documentation. > From: tunnelm@verizon.net > To: davidson@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 13 Jan 2010 08:19:55 -0500 > Subject: Re: [DAVIDSON] William Davidson > > Philip, > > 1) James Davidson "I" of Big Mocassin Gap in VA is "DNA Family 13." > > 2) Samuel Davidson of Beverly Manor/Augusta Co., VA is "DNA Family 1" (he > was an apparent brother of "Import" John Davidson who married Jane, as well > as an apparent brother of the George Davidson who was the father of Rev.
