    3. Chuck, According to an old family history, William was the son of Phineas who came from Scotland with 2 brothers. A researcher in Scotland could not find any men named Phineas Davidson on the ship records. He said it was not a name that was used in Scotland but that it was an American name. He suggested looking for an earlier generation that came to America. Phineas would have been born about 1733. so you can see his father could have come over before that. Anyway, it is hard to find proof. We have proof that William was born in 1757 from his tombstone. If you have any ideas about this I would be happy to hear them.
