I read your post with your husbands family on it. Most of the Surnames were names I was told to look for by my father. He gave me very few first names. I was also told that I was part Cherokee on both my mother and my father's side. This is my line: Purity Davidson b 1800 in NC +Dean Rogers b 1786 in NH They had 4 known children that were named: 1. John Rogers 1833 TN + Mary Jane Lassiter + Rilla Kirkland + Sarah (Sally) Ann Garrett-Clark + Matilda Crane 4. Susannah Mariah Rogers b 1835 TN +William Lasiter Susannah Mariah Rogers, daughter of Dean Rogers and Purity Davidson Rogers, is my great, great grandmother. She and Wm. Lasiter had 16 Children. Number 13, Sarah Clemantine Lasiter is my great grandmother. Sarah Clemantine Lasiter b 1873 MO + Dr. Alexander Stephens Hawkins b 1851 GA The only child of Sara C. (Lasiter) Hawkins and Alex S. Hawkins was Ruth Elizabeth Hawkins. She was my grandmother. Ruth E. Hawkins b. 1893 MO +Wm. Campbell Kates b 1892 NJ The first living child of Ruth E. Hawkins and Wm C. Kates was my mother, Mildred Eleanor Kates. Mildred E. Kates b 1915 OK + Wm. Rupert Kinney b 1907 MO W. R. Kinney and Mildred E. (Kates) Kinney are my parents. I know that only the Davidson family name is in my genealogy here but I am still wondering if the names that are familiar to me have a connection. Do you have any Ideas about it.
