Dear List, It has been a very long time since I have been on here, so I hope I remember it correctly. With all the names recently sounding like what I have in my family, I thought I would give it another go. (This information came from Annalee Davison Newlon to my father in 1982. According to the letter, her son ? Alexander Newlon has all the Bible, deeds, wills, etc. He was at Annapolis in 1982.) Brothers James and ? Davidson (substitute other spellings) came from Scotland to Charleston SC around 1745 after a feud with the McIntosh clan. This is also the time of the Jacobite uprising. James' son, Samuel was born near Tawneytown, PA. Moved to Bedford Co, VA near Lynchburg. Samuel went into Rev. War as substitute for father. According to Pension application he served under General Green and Captain Moon and was in the battle of Guilford. Paperwork from NARA is brief, and hard to read because of deterioration. He was discharged in SC, bought property in Washington Co, NC, then moved to East Tenn, Grainger Co. Census shows wife Mary Chance and children James, Alexander, Isabella, and Elizabeth. Then moved to West Tenn, then to Franklin Co, IN as early as 1814. Alexander is listed in Franklin Co as being married to Mary Prewitt on 3-31-1826 and Mary Ann Duskins on 8-11-1837. I have more information and would love to share it with someone else researching this line. Also, if anyone knows of Annalee's son or family that might be looking for family lines, I would like to get in touch with them. Mary Anne Eskew eskew@ncats.net
