I decided to enter the newest search for the Davidson Brothers who fought in the Revolution. I haven't written for a while and maybe someone new is on our list who will connect to my clan. My ggggrandfather was John Davidson. According to his pension records, he was born about 1761 and lived on the Schuylkill River, near Philadelphia. He stated that he moved with his family to South Carolina before the Revolution. At 16 he enlisted as a private at Union District, SC. He fought in numerous battles and was wounded at the Battle of Cowpens. He moved to Georgia after the Revolution and applied for a pension when he was 74 years old. He died in Jasper County, Georgia 1/15/1856 at the age of 95. I have a LaGrange, Georgia 1884 newspaper article about one of John's sons, David Davidson. The article substantiates the above, stating that David's father was John Davidson -- an American Revolutionary Soldier. It told about David's father receiving several saber cuts on his head and hand at the Battle of Cowpens. In addition, it says that David had "four uncles who likewise fought the British". I do not know their names. I believe the father of the above John Davidson was, also, named John. For my sanity, I call him John Davidson, Sr. John Sr and his wife, Tabitha, are the earliest of my known Davidson ancestors. John, Sr. is reported to have been born about 1728 and died 1801. Tabitha died about 1812. Tabitha and John Davidson, Sr. had eight children. They were: James (no information on him) Jean married James Park Joseph married Mary Park John (RS) married -- wife unknown Elizabeth married John Leeper Mary married Gilbert Shaw (Gilbert was an RS and a witness to John's pension) Samuel married Elizabeth Mayes William married Elizabeth Mayes (same name cousin to Samuel's wife.) I will give the names of my ggggrandfather John's (RS) six children -- in case someone finds a name connection. They were: Mary (married Samuel Smith) Robert (married Elizabeth Mitchell) Margaret (married Drury S. Patterson) Jane (married Moses Chafin) David (married Susan Caroline - called Carrie - last name unknown) John Davidson (married Elizabeth P.
