Laroice - I hope you can remember where that church information came from. William was not the brother of Jacob as William was born in 1801; however, I believe that he may have been a nephew. This is the William that on his marriage bond was listed as William Davidson (alias Clark). I have two ideas on that. Lydia Davidson, daughter of James and Hannah Davidson, married a _____ Clark about 1798/99 (forgot the exact date). I'm thinking that William could have been her son, maybe something happened to her and her husband and William was raised by the Davidson's and took his mother's name. Another theory is that he was the son of one of the other Davidson boys and was sent to live with the Clark family as a teen. I was told by someone in Jefferson Co, TN that boys were frequently known by the farm that they lived and worked on. Perhaps if I could get the settlement of James Davidson/Davison's will, then maybe it would give some help. If I could locate some descendents of Jacob Davidson and Sarah Selvage, I thought that maybe they would know something. I have been unable to find a marriage record for Lydia Davidson and ? Clark. It might help if I knew his name or where they married. Jacob's wife, Sarah, and William's wife, Eleanor Selvage, were sisters. We now know that for sure as we just found the will and settlement of Jeremiah Selvage in Roane Co, TN which refers to them as his daughters, Eleanor Davidson and Sarah Davidson. I am excited about this new information and hope that it will bring me closer to the truth about the parents of Jacob and William. Jacob may well be the son of James and Hannah - per his birth date and the census records - they put him very close to the right age. He was about 13 years older than William. I am more hopeful that we might be closer to an answer to this riddle about William Davidson (alias Clark). - Amy -----Original Message----- From: Laroice Davidson [mailto:davidsonl001@hawaii.rr.com] Sent: Sunday, August 19, 2001 5:15 PM To: DAVIDSON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [DAVIDSON-L] Jacob Davidson and Sarah Selvidge/Selvage Hi, I have often wondered if this Jacob was the brother of William Davidson . If he is then it would be almost enough evidence to make me believe that William & Jacob were the children of James & Hannah Davidson from Jefferson County, Tn. They had a son William born 1783 and a Jacob born 26 March 1790. I saw a church record somewhere I believe Wayne County Tn where William & Jacob and their wives joined a church in 1830. (No names for wives). What do you think? If you find any information that refers to a Jacob Davidson who is not your Jacob Davidson, I would be interested. I'm still looking for parents and siblings of my Jacob Davidson, born in Pennsylvania, 1800 - married in Pennsylvania and moved to Indiana in 1847. Since it is not the most common Davidson name, I could imagine there is a link there somewhere. (I'm also fairly certain that there is a connection to a Samuel and an Alexander prior to my Jacob, but I haven't found it yet.) Sara
