Kay, My father gave me a long list of surnames on which I have based my family search. One of the problems is he did not tell me which names were for which side of the family. So I have been asking and doing my own digging and have been able to come up with some of the family on both sides of my family. My father also told me that both he and my mother had a Rogers connection. Dean Rogers is the connection on my mother's side of the family. Dean Rogers b. 1786 in NH +Purity Davidson b. 1800 in NC. Their children were Zelpha Rogers, Nancy Rogers, John Rogers and my Gr-Gr-Grandmother Susannah Mariah Rogers. b in Rutherford Co., TN + Wm. Lasiter b. in Rutherford Co., TN They had 16 children and the 13th was my Great Grandmother who was: Sarah Clemantine Lasiter b in Stone Co., MO, 01 Jan 1871. + Dr. Alexander Stephens Hawkins b. in Rossville, Walker Co., GA in May of 1851. Their only child was my grandmother who was: Ruth Elizabeth Hawkins b. in Cassville, Barry Co., MO + William Campbell Kates b in Woodstown, Salem Co. NJ. Their oldest child was my mother who was: Mildred Eleanor Kates b in Claremore, Rogers Co., OK. + William Rupert Kinney b. Puxico, Stoddard Co. MO. My father's side of the family has a Rogers/Wilson connection in MO I think but am not sure. I was also told by my father that he and my mother had a common ancestor but he didn't tell me who. Just said it was a long way back. So far I am assuming it was probably a Rogers. He said our Kinney family came from Upstate NY They were in OH, IN, IL, KY, GA, MO and OK. My husbands Townsley family was also from NY State and ended up in OK. Part of the family was in Davenport, OK of all places. This Davenport, OK part of the Townsleys was my husband's grandfather Willis L. Townsley's brother who was Fred Townsley. Their father was Sanford Townsley.
