    3. Karen, I am not sure if there is an existing grave site. he died in 1784 supposedly on Jones Mountain in Buncombe Co., NC. I am told that he is buried in Asheville with his wife Mary, but I have not seem a record of that burial. john. 3. Hi, Like Karen , I too, am descended from the Cherokee Co., NC Davidsons. Maj. William Davidson's twin, Samuel, is buried on Jones Mt.. near Swannanoa, NC supposedly at the place where the Indians killed him. His burial site for years was marked only by a pine tree with the initials "S.D." at the head of the grave. Relatives and community members looked after the grave and kept it up for many years. In 1913, a headstone was erected at the grave site commemorating Samuel Davidson as the first white settler west of the Blue Ridge. I have been to Jones Mt.. two times in the last year and have hiked "the Davidson Trail" on the mountain ( located near Warren Wilson College). I have had no luck locating it though. On the Davidson Trail is a kiosk erected by the boy scouts in 1985, that details the story of Samuel Davidson. It even has an arrow that I assume points the way to the grave , but I have still been unable to locate it. If anyone can give good directions to , I would certainly appreciate it. Also, I do not think his wife, Mary, is buried with him. "John B.
