This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FNR.2ACEB/2259 Message Board Post: I've been monitoring this board for almost a year to see if anyone is researching this line of Davidson's. I haven't seen anything that rang a bell so I'll post the little that I know and see if I can get any hits. My ggg grandfather was known as Ben Davidson, His name may have been John Benjamin Davidson. I believe he was born 23 Dec 1803 or 23 Jan 1803 in Highland County, OH. I don't know his father for sure but there was a John Davidson in the area at that time and McBride's Highland Count Will Book indicates Benjamin was somehow related to a John Davidson. I think Ben had a brother named Jack and an uncle named Tom, both with the Davidson surname. Ben married Amelia Kibler on 30 Nov 1826 and died on 12 Sep 1848. I believe his parents came to the Ohio country abt. 1800 but I don't know where they started from. Daniel Scott's book "A History of the Early Settlement of Highland County, OH" contains a short passage "...shortly after John Davidson, with his family, weary of the sickly valley of the Scioto, left the neighborhood of Chillicothe and settled on Whiteoak in the vicinity of the Finleys. Mr. Davidson had removed from Fayette county, Ky., to Chillicothe in 1797." I'm not sure this passage refers to the family of which Benjamin was a member. The southern part of Ohio is lousy with Davidsons and I think every family named at least one of their sons John so following the right geneological trail is tough. If anyone has any leads on this particular Davidson family, your info would be greatly appreciated by my family. Thanks Jean Kimball
I am searching for the parents of Abigail Davidson, b. 14 Oct 1814, Highland Co., OH, and married Peter Colvin. By 1850 they were living in Richland Co., IL. Abigail was my maternal great grandmother.
