I am trying to find information about Zack Davidson of Georgia. I have in my possession a newspaper article from family papers that says he was a Colonel and he lived in Gabbettville, Georgia and Texas, Georgia. I think Gabbettville is in Troup County and Texas may be in Heard County, Georgia. Col. Zack Davidson would have been the son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Davidson from the West Point, Georgia area. William R. had four boys and two girls. I know three of the boys names and I believe, Col. Zack Davidson, is the missing fourth son. His siblings were born in the time frame of 1858 to 1868. Due to an old census, I believe he was born after 1860. One of his brothers was Robert Emmett Davidson. Robert Emmett was a Major in the Spanish - American war. Zack may have been in that war -- or possibly WW1. Does anyone know if there is a place on-line that lists officers in either of those wars? I finally have an unusual name for a Davidson ancestor. Plus, I now know where my father got his name Zack. This newspaper article has been in front of my nose for ages....and I just connected to it today while I was looking up something for one of our Davidson list members. The article was written when my brother left for Vietnam. The article mentioned other Davidsons in our family who had served their country. I had information about the others, but not Zack. The article called Col. Zack Davidson my brother's great uncle. I realized today that this is a perfect fit for him to be my great grandfather's missing son. As for the name Zack -- in my Dad's case -- many times his name was mistaken for Jack. If anyone has any additional information on a Col. Zack/Jack Davidson from Georgia, it would be great to hear from you. Thanks, Anna Gayle
