Mary, You are absolutely correct. My math was way off. Maybe William R. Davidson's son, Major Robert Emmett Davidson, was named after this other Robert Emmett Davidson who died in Tennessee. However, I know the names of William R's siblings, so the connection would have to be a relative to W. R. Davidson -- not his brother. Thank you very much for pointing that out to me. Of course, William R. "could" have had a son at 15 -- but I doubt it. William R. had a daughter named Martha (Mattie) C. Davidson . As far as I know -- she was the oldest of his children. She was born in Georgia on 11/17/1858. This means W. R. was twenty-three when she was born. According to an old LaGrange newspaper article, W. R. Davidson had four sons and two daughters. I only know the names of three sons and one daughter. So far -- all born after 1858. Thank you very much for pointing out my mistake.
