I have a William Docker b l838 in Newby (Westmoreland) m. his family's housekeeper, Mary Ann Davidson, from Scotland. I don't know where in Scotland she was born, but she was b about l839-40, according to the fact that she was age 39 at the time of her death in l857. They came to America on a shipin l872, after they were married July 4, 1857. i have no idea where to look for her family in Scotland, except that I am guessing that if she worked over in England, she may have been from lower Scotland.
