He is my ggggg grandfather. No one knows where he came from or who he was married to, nor who his parents were. All we know is that he died in the Summer of 1802, leaving an orphaned son named Benjamin, born 02 Sept. 1792. John's signature is on a petition dated 1801 requesting the state of TN to allow elections and meetings to be conducted in Palmyra, Montgomery Co, TN. His father may have been James, grandfatehr Samuel, great-grandfather Alexander from Scotland around 1700 or so. Any ideas would be helpful.
