Linda, I do not have any information about a DeWeese related to my James A. Davidson. I have limited information on James -- other than he was born 1837 in Georgia and died (during the Civil War) in Fredericksburg, Virginia on 12/15/1862. Also, I know his parents were Elizabeth P. (McKee) and John Davidson, Jr. of Georgia. James did have two great uncles (Samuel and William Davidson) who were born in South Carolina and died in Mt. Zion, Illinois. Samuel and William moved to Illinois between 1812 and 1817. They were founders of the Presbyterian Church in Mt. Zion. I have been to the old cemetery that is behind this church and found many Davidson headstones in this gated area. Samuel and William Davidson were the youngest of seven children. One of their older brothers was John Davidson. John enlisted in Union District, South Carolina to fight in the Revolution, but moved from South Carolina to Georgia after the war. This John was the grandfather of my James. A. Davidson. Good luck. Anna Gayle (Davidson)
