I have never been able to find any proof of this. This information seems to be based on the fact that some of the Davidsons in the book moved to Barren County Kentucky. There were already Davidsons in Barren County and they were then assumed to be the same family and they were not. I guess that the Barren County Family was from Glochester. The book is the descendants of the five original Davidsons that settled in Overton County Tennessee in 1806 on Caney Creek near Travisville in what is now Pickett County Tennessee. The Overton County Davidsons and the Barren County family has been seperated by DNA testing. Dennis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have found 2 others in my family (different lines) and have asked that folks take really clear digital photos of the cover, print/publish date and the family history page(s). Could I get photos? Unfortunately, your mother's "Davidson blood" is irrelvant and of no value in this test.....this is just the way the "Y chromosome science works." The test is just a simple "inside the cheeks scraping" that takes only minutes, but it is certainly a personal choice on the part of your uncle not to participate. I wish him the best with his sight issues, and I will keep him in my prayers. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. No, you can't participate. Your dad would have to be the DAVIDSON, not your mom. I am sorry about your uncle's eyesight. I wish him well. Author: tunnelm1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.davidson/4786.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It has to be a male Davidson....females "will not work" for this Y chromosome test. If your Uncle has the surname of Davidson (i.e, he is a direct "male Davidson blood line") then he would be a candidate. I highly recommend the 37 marker test, since doing fewer markers (like 25, or especially only 12) can lead to "false positives" from time to time. Also, FTDNA is having a significant sale until the end of this month (August 2008), so you should join very soon (join through the link on www.davidsongenes.org). Once that link takes you to the FTDNA website "order form," there is a provision there where you can pay for the test (immediately by credit card or by having an invoice sent to your address) but where the testing kit is mailed directly to your uncle. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My great grandmother (along with my grandmother and mom) are from west TN. My mom's name is Mary Zon (named after her great-grandmother, Zula Zong). My grandmother didn't discover until a few years ago (after finding her mother's Bible) that her mother's name was actually Zula Zong insted of Zula Zon. I looked the name Zong up on the internet and discovered the song created for Zula Zong. I am interested in finding out more about this song in order to uncover more of my family tree.
