    1. Re: [DAVIDSON] Clan Davidson Newsletter
    2. Dave Chagnon
    3. Good morning, all! Pat (Davidson) James sent out a query asking how he (she?) could receive the award-winning newsletter (he modestly asserts) published by the Clan Davidson Society USA Inc. Very simple... a membership to the CDS-USA brings the newsletter in one of two optional formats to your door or email box twice a year. The newsletter, entitled The Sporran, has from 30 to 40 pages (or more, sometimes) of articles about Clan Davidson, its membership or items of interest to those with roots in Scotland. Although not exclusively dedicated to the genealogical community, it does contain articles of interest to the genealogist and publishes inquiries. CDS-USA recently appointed John Lisle as its Corresponding Genealogist. The Sporran is distributed as a B&W commercially printed edition or as a full color electronic publication. What is the CDS-USA you ask? CDS-USA is a charitable and educational organization dedicated to maintaining the knowledge and traditions of the Great Scottish Highland Clan Davidson and to pass this knowledge down to our children and those who follow. We have been in existence for 30 years and just recently incorporated in the State of North Carolina. We have members (either individuals or families) in over 400 residences scattered across the entire USA. We sponsor a tent at over 70 Scottish Highland Games providing the membership an opportunity to gather at selected locations in virtually every State in the nation. We maintain close and collegial ties with our sister Clan Davidson organizations in UK, Australia and New Zealand, and with our Clan Chief who resides in New Zealand. Membership in CDS-USA is inexpensive, only $20 per year for either individuals or families residing at the same address. Lifetime memberships are available. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Clan Davidson and in its perpetuation. To find out more information about CDS-USA check out our website at [www.clandavidsonusa.com]. This site will soon be under construction to update it and bring it up to the standards of the 21st century. If you'd like a free electronic issue of the latest issue of The Sporran, please an email to me at [sennachie@earthlink.net]. Yours, Aye! Dave Chagnon Sennachie & Membership Registrar Clan Davidson Society (USA) PS "Sennachie" is the Scottish Gaelic word for "storyteller", a much more descriptive and evocative term than "newsletter editor"! -------------------------------------------------- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 10, 2010 12:58 AM To: <DAVIDSON-L@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [DAVIDSON] Clan Davidson Newsletter > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: patjames92037 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.davidson/4653.1.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I want to receive this newsletter. 2. Hi Jim... Should we email direct? I am connected to Patrick via Fleming's father, William [1725]. William Fleming's daughter Nancy married Nehemiah Thompson their daughter, Mary Ann married Isaac Schenck their daughter, Olive Levanda married Charles Williams their son was my Grandfather, Grover Williams. As to Lewis Davidson: his daughter, Rachel married Samuel McKee their son, Eli was my great great grandfather. I have seen some indications that both these Davidson lines can connect at some point and I would love to find it. I don't want to 'hog' in here on family 4!!!! I love to read it all. 3. Laroice, I think that is an excellent idea to use Facebook. What you want to want to do is create a Face Book group. Real simple... setup whatever rules and then people can leave posts and articles and photos. I think a FaceBook group is better than a blog or a yahoo like group because you will find that sharing pictures will be an important aspect of the group. I would not make it a closed group as you want to be able to find new members of the group. A lot of the help on that will come by writing a strong intro. Please feel free to link to our DNA site as www.davidsongenes.org as it will be moving shortly and the individual page links will be changing. Some folks might be hesitant about setting up an account on Facebook. It does not cost anything, and I am finding it a great tool to find people when I am researching a family. I would suggest that you send out a message to each of the Family 4 members individually as not all subscribe to this list. I assume it is not too chilly in Hawaii... This week the mercury is freezing solid in New Hampshire... ;-) john. 3. I think that is a great idea.  I do believe there might be a way for us to set up our group as "private" but I don't know how.  I only just joined Facebook last week.  I will check with my kids and see how to do it.  Diana (PS) Are you in Hawaii right now?  I wish I was--we have had LOTS of cold and snow in Kansas--way more than usual.  --- On Wed, 1/6/10, Laroice Davidson <davidsonl001@hawaii.rr.com> wrote: From: Laroice Davidson <davidsonl001@hawaii.rr.com> Subject: Re: [DAVIDSON] Davidson Family 4 Let's all meet as friends on Facebook To: davidson@rootsweb.com Date: Wednesday, January 6, 2010, 3:43 PM Hi Everyone and Happy New Year to All, I am Laroice Davidson, Family 4, Kit #88694. I was thinking it would be nice if all the members of Family 4 could get to know each other better and then I thought of Facebook. Would that not be a great place for us all to meet as friends and share pictures, stories and advances in our research? I don't mean it as a place or way isolate us from others on the Davidson list, of course that would be dumb, but rather just another way for us to get to know each other. Facebook is really easy to get on. I would like to hear from any of you that are interested. Also was wondering if anyone on Facebook knows of a way to create a separate account just for our group. I'm sure there are some folks already on Facebook sharing with other family and friends. Anyway if you are related in anyway to Davidson family 4 or just interested in working with family 4 and staying touch please post your reply here. If anyone has or knows of another forum where we could kind of form a Family 4 group please speak out. Thanks, Laroice Davidson, Honolulu    ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to DAVIDSON-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Father McGrath officiated at the service which united Miss Mae Ellen Butler and Mr. Keith Burnett Davidson in the holy bonds of marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Butler acted as grooms man and brides maid. The happy couple left immediately for Denver where the groom has a position as engineer with the Midwest York Manufacturing Company, and where they will be at home to their friends at 4886 Perry Street after February first. The bride and groom are two of the community's most popular young people. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Butler and is a beautiful and accomplished young lady. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorean F. Davidson and is a dandy good fellow liked by all. Both Mr. and Mrs. Davidson are graduates of the Glasco High School. Mr. Davidson attended K.S.A.C. where he fitted himself for the responsible position which he now holds. We join the many friends in congratulations and best wishes.
