Hi Folks, Trying to find out where to get information on the Washington County Pennsylvania Frontier Rangers 1781-1783. Roster of Soldier in Rev.War during that time. Thanks much, Chuck Davidson
Do you have the names of the children born to James Davison and Margaret Dyer??? There are so many of the pieces missing. I am looking for info from relatives or friends of Landrus Junior Davidson. This is all the info I have: Landrus married Bethel Richardson of Sullivan Co.,TN. They had a son, Benny Vance. Landrus died around October, 1963. He was in the Army. His military record is as vague as his cause of death. What paperwork I do have does not make any sense and does not match up with the medals and patches on his uniform. All I know for sure is that he was in Belgium around D-Day. His parents are Vance and Ella Davidson. Ella was a Hocket (Hockett) before marriage. There is suppose to be Cherokee or Choctaw in the line too. This is all the info I have. Everywhere I go has a dead end. Can someone please help me unlock the mystery. You can email me at roben14@home.com Thanks in advance!
What was your Ann Davison's maiden name? Pat
Do you have any more information about the 5 Davidson brothers who were given land in Ohio? I am trying to find the parents of Abigail Davidson who was born in Highland Co., Ohio, 1814 or 1816. Abigail married Peter Colvin and by 1850 they had moved to Richland Co., IL. Thanks for any help. Paul: I know of several who are researching your Scott Co., VA Davidson line. My husband descends from Hiram's brother, Joseph (1817-1903). Please contact me directly at kdavid2410@aol.com Kay Davidson Westminster, CO
I know that John Davidson and a Joseph Davidson received a pension for serving in the American Revolution. They received their pension while living in Jasper County, Georgia. I believe John was born in PA about 1761. I know he moved to SC before the Revolution and enlisted in the army as a private. He was only 16 years old. After the war, he moved to Georgia. John had a brother named Joseph....and I do not know when he was born. I have no documentation that proves the above Joseph from Jasper County was John's brother. Anna Gayle
Does anyone know where Paul's family lived? The names fit with some of mine. Thanks, Anna Gayle
I am interested in contacting my grandmother's(Anna Elizabeth Davidson Kilmer) half sister's Jean Davidson of Edinburgh family. I understand that they have maintained my grandmother's family home as a samll hotel or B&B in Edinburgh. My grandmother was born 1/30/1889 or 88. If anyone has info about this I would appreciate it.
I am most likely linked to your ancestry....My grandfather was Abner Hall Davidson, his father was George Newton Davidson and without looking up my documents...I believe my ggg-grandfather was Samuel O. Davidson and likewise his father was William Davidson and my ggggg-grandfather was George Davidson...Now I may have the latter out of sinc but I do have back to the early settlers of Davidson....Some were first in Pa.>VA>NC>TN...but most were in Iredell, N.C., Davidson County, N.C....etc. If I can be of further help feel free to contact me. Nita Davidson (NitaDavidson@MSN.com) P.S. I do not, at this point of my search, believe the Joseph Davidson is connected to mine.
My grandfather was Abner Hall Davidson...his father was Issac Newton Davidson...(I believe)....I don't have the Davidson information right in front of me; however, I have back to the mid 1700s...Give me more informaiton and I may have some for you. Nita (NitaDavidson@MSN.com)
Well said, Henry spelled his name Davison(at least the clerk did) but Gideon spelled his name Davidson. My great grand- fathers 1st cousin stated similar facts: Davison was the English spelling and Davidson was Scottish. I would really like to know the truth about the Scott Co Davidsons. All I know is that my Dad and his sisters were selective as to WHO they called "Kith & Kin"! I wish that I could call them back and record their emotion and then I might understand their passion. What do you think about genetic memory? I loved peach brandy but never understood why until I found where Grandpa Gideon was arrested for making peach brandy in Scott Co.! Anybody have a similar story?Phil
Thanks for the "heads up," Mary! Kerry Davidson
Philip, As for the second "d", it is a difficult call. For my related family, some of the later generations use the second "d" version. My direct line has been consistent with the description that I gave regarding "X" signatures. I have copied the original signatures of my earliest ancestor in VA, John Davison, and his sons. They used the Davison spelling. I do not believe there is an absolute right and wrong for surname spellings. We are whatever our family handed down to us, albeit some ancestors may have used something else. Several years ago, I looked at a book about surnames in a library in London, UK. It essentially said Davison was most prevelent in England, especially the region NE of London. Davidson was most prevelent in Scotland. Some of each name could be found in both locations. And, of course migrations caused both to be found in Ireland. Let me know what you develop on your Scott Co, VA family. Best regards, Hollis
I received a virus in the Davidson list too, and deleted it before I could even read the name of it. I don't know that question. Morgan Davidson in Lancing TN might know. He lives on the Colonels property.Don't have his address.
No, but I guess it could have made it into the records. Mosias Jones was a son of the Colonel William Lee Davidson. His other sons were Joseph James, Samuel and Wm Lee Jr.
