Seeking information about this unit or person. Wife, Francis. Thanks.
Hi English, I have a copy of an 1867 Voting Registration of Loyalty Oaths / Individual Pardon Applications of Walker Co., Alabama. It includes residents of Walker Co., AL who signed loyalty oaths to the Union in 1867 and 1868. It lists several Davidsons from AL.. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but thought I would put this info on the list. I got this information from writing to Alabama Dept of Archives. Lynne Davidson Foster Pickens Co., AL
Funny , I did send a few messages and they dind' appear on the list ..............did I do something wrong????? Francis Houart. NO ATTACHMENT TO THIS...............
Thanks for the information but did you have any Riley's married into the Davidsons' in 1850's in Franklin or Delaware Counties in IN? Thanks for your time. I had posted a week or so ago about a Jacob Alan (or so we think) Davidson. I received a response that looked hopeful, unfortunately it had a virus attached and I wouldnt open it. So Im going to try again. If this looks familiar, I have posted before, but kept on the list hoping I might get a break some day. I am looking for a J.A. Davidson known to have lived in Rolla, Missouri and died there during the Civil War. He married a Martha Smith, possibly in Mercer County, Ohio. In the 1850 Census there is a Jacob Davidson possibly living with a Stephen McBicker and his wife Ann. J. A. is listed as born in VA on the 1860 census for Missouri around the year 1820. He and Martha had four children: Jefferson who was born in Illinois; Jerome who was born in Indiana; Mary who was born in Missouri; and Samuel who was born in Missouri. This is about the extent I know and have only run into one other person researching this line. She is a stuck as I am. Any help would be appreciated. I think Ive exhausted almost all the internet sites only to find nothing. Hi Marsha, I don't have any info on your Davidsons but I do have an answer for their wanderings :) I've discovered from research that many folks migrated as land opened up. Those leaving PA, usually went thru OH, IN and IL and beyond. This may explain their path. Regards, Sandy in PA
This is a long shot, but we are looking for the parents of Joseph A. Davidson. Do you know if John Wallace Davidson had any siblings? We do not know anything about Joseph's parents. We know he went to live with his relative George as a child. Perhaps John Wallace Davidson had siblings who were sent to various relatives to be raised. According to court records Joseph went to live with George when he was "almost a child". We know Joseph was born in VA ( probably Tazwell Co.) in 1802. We believe they had a sister Jane, who was born in 1799, who also was raised by George. In 1806 George married Elizabeth Cartmill in Tazwell Co. The next year they moved to Kanawha Co. Va (now WV). The next known residence is Lawrence Co. KY around 1820. Jane married Lewis Russell in Lawrence Co. KY. Joseph married Nancy Shannon Burgess in Lawrence Co. KY. Perhaps we need to be looking at the same line. Looking forward to hearing from you.
One story that I have hear from my line ... (story unconfirmed) ... is that Cornet William Davison came from Ireland, where he was in military service, to Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1709. His superior officer, Col. Armstrong, had been ordered by London to execute a group of Irish insurgents that they had captured. Not having an appetite for what he perceived as outright murder, both Col. Armstrong and Cornet William Davison headed for "the colonies" to avoid certain court-martial. The colonel's daughter, Sarah, came with them. Upon arriving in Philadelphia, William Davison changed his name to William DaviDson, believing that it would make it slightly more difficult for the English authorities to find him. The story further states that he married the colonel's daughter, Sarah Armstrong. Good Luck, J. D. Davidson
Hello folks, I am pretty excited about some news I just received so expect me to make an error in my inquiry here. I just can't wait to ask before I calm down! LOL I've been searching for ANY information on my Brooklyn, NY DAVISON line for some time...and have just learned that Daniel E. DAVISON is buried at St. Johns Cemetery in Middle Village NY with his wife Catherine. However, the person who found the information for me at the funeral home wrote back "DANIEL E. DAVIDSON AND CATHERINE DAVIDSON". I've NEVER yet found this family with the spelling as DAVIDSON...and so, just in an effort not to leave any stone unturned, is there a fellow list member searching for a Brooklyn, NY Daniel E. DAVIDSON? Died Feb. 15, 1954, interred Feb. 18, 1954. The prayer card for Daniel spells the name DAVISON...so I think the funeral home informant just spelled it incorrectly when responding to me. Additionally, is there a Rose COLE out there researching the DAVISON family in Brooklyn, NY? Would love to find a cousin in this line! Joanie
