Dee - What do you have to pay to use the Family Tree Make census on line? I have FTM, but did not know about the online census. - Amy -----Original Message----- From: Dee6465@aol.com [mailto:Dee6465@aol.com] Sent: Friday, August 10, 2001 7:40 PM To: DAVIDSON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [DAVIDSON-L] Re: DAVIDSON-D Digest V01 #192 I purchased the C'D for the l880 census, which includes an index. Like the original's there are mis-spellings and some of the relatives that I know should be there were either missed or mis-spelled so terrible that I haven't found them all. My great grandfather was George Hamilton Mc Gregor. I couldn't find him in l880 although I had seen the film. Finally located him this afternoon --- Gary Mc Gregor. Some of the other names were spelled Mc Greggery/ Mc Greggory/ Mc Greagor As for the l900 census. I don't like the one on Ancestry.com as it doesn't have a search program. If you know the county and township, you have a better chance of finding the party. I also have trouble navigating the program. I also have the l900 census on line through Familytreemaker and it is much easier to work with. You can do a all around search for a name, or pick out the state. Although as with any census., there are mis-spellings and some families that I haven't located as yet, although I know they should be there. Maybe they went to town that day, who knows. I also have several of the l850 census C.D.'s that I use constantly and also use the ones on line. When you are researching 30 to 40 different lines, you use everything you can find available, especially if you aren't close to an Archieve Library. I have visited both. To get there from I-75 in Butts Co. I go to Jackson GA and stay on 42 highway going South East to Indian Springs GA. Staying on 42 through Indian Springs and into Monroe Co. you will pass through a bump in the road known as Blount. Go About 1 mile on South of Blount on highway 42. You will turn Left or East on Stokes Store Road go East approx. 1 mile to were the road splits you take the right fork ( at this time it is dirt ) on to a part of Old Indian Springs Road. Go South on Old Indian Spring Rd. approx. 3/10 of a mile. On your right or what will be the west side of the road will be an old road-bed Set in about 50 yards is a cattle gate and it says it is posted keep out go approx. 200 yards heading West beyond this gate, you should see the Webb cemetery on your left. At this time there is a fence around it. I have recorded the information extracted from that cemetery in the correct place in by software program. The other from that cemetery is recorded below. John Otis Glass B. Oct 5, 1879 D. Feb 13, 1947 next to him in place of were the wife would be is Hexie Morgan B. Dec 11, 1882 D. June 8, 1971 in same plot and next too Hexie is James L. Morgan B. May 1 1847 D. July 18, 1923 and then next to him Janie Morgan B. May 1, 1873 D. Jan 1874 in the next area but not same plot is Thomas Wiley B. Jan 1, 1867 D. Jan 12, 1919 next to him in place of the wife is Martha Howard Morgan B. Feb. 19, 1877 D. Oct 31, 1928 then we have Martha Webb Duffy Morgan B. Jan 8, 1843 D. Oct 22, 1926 next to her but not in place were husband would be is George J. Morgan B. Oct. 20, 1879 D. Jan 9, 1933. Next we have Elizabeth Virginia Webb wife of J. B. Gregory B. June 21, 1817 D. Mar 3, 1935 closet to her grave is Jarrett B. Gregory B. Dec. 14? 1853 D. May 27, 1947. next is Elanor Proctor Sutton Hutchingson B. May 17, 1901 END 1995 - GA, Newton Co., In the history of Newton Co., GA it says the Father of Susan Webb is John Webb and John's father was Francis Webb. I know this to be in error. From the book "ROSTER OF REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIERS IN GA", by McCall Howard H. page 177 states that Francis Webb was b. Essex Co. VA 1759 d. Hancock Co. GA 1811 Mar. 1786 Frances Walker daughter of Freeman Walker & his wife Frances Belfield if these dates are right and I believe they are... then their son John Webb can't be the father of Susan Webb as this John was born in 1794 and Susan was born in 1798 per pension application. There is Charles Webb's will he names Susan Dick as his daughter. The list of children I display is from Charles Webb's will.
Grady, Not to my knowledge! Sorry, Bob Davidson

Simon, I will help you if I can......what is your grandfather's name?
Lynne, can you help me I see you are from Ala. My grandfather born 8/19/1856 Bayou LaBatre Ala. I am trying to get any info I can Thanks LIL Davidson Simon or MGLIL@AOL
Okay, did you have any Davidson's in Greene Co., OH or IN? The Perry and Sarah name is familiar with mine and the Burns name fits into Franklin Co., IN where my Hunter group married Lydia Burns Mace Jones. She was from PA and her father was Samuel Burns of New Sewickley, Beaver Co.,OH. Let me know if any links occur. I have no information on my Davidson prior to 1814 and the only name I have is Richard who went at a young age with his parents into IN, Delaware Co. is where he married Evaline Applegate then he went to Franklin Co., IN. Surely, someone searching the Davidson line has found this link. If so, please write. FKR On Sun, 5 Aug 2001 11:55:10 EDT JASaliby@aol.com writes: > My gggf Perry Davidson was born in 1828. He m. Thanks John, I just might join ancestry...might be the quickest way. Thanks again, LYNNE
Hey Flo......will get you my line this weekend. Thanks, LYNNE
I would suggest checking the <deweeses.com> page for Davidson/Davison's. I am a DeWeese/Davidson descendant and that page has quite a few because of the Barren County, KY and NC connection. Also, Warren County, IL. They traveled and intermarried a lot. Linda Hoffman --- MGLil@aol.com wrote: > Lynne, can you help me I see you are from Ala. Hello Bob: Did your William Davidson by any chasnce live in Blount C. Tenn?
Glad to hear from you again, Lynn. No, I do not have anything more on Joshua. And I am still looking for more information on James (son of Alexander). Outside of his date of death and the fact that he was mentioned in his father's will, I really don't have any information about him. I wish I had your line on my data base. Would you send it to me, please? Florence
Lynne, Which years? Which states? Probably one of the best deals available right now is the 1880 CDs from the LDS. I have not seen them, but I have seen reviews of them which have raved about them. It is the complete 1880 census, transcribed and indexed - not images - onto about 50 CDs for $49. Other than that, I guess the online services from ancestry.com is probably the best deal, especially if you have a fast internet line for images. They are still rolling it out and there are no indices yet for the later years. Ancestry has 1790 and 1800 complete, 1810 partial, 1880 complete, 1900-1920 mostly complete. Ancestry also has the AIS index which is 1790-1850, plus some later years - but just index. Genealogy.com has partial 1850 images with index and similar index for 1790-1850/60 as part of GenealogyLibrary.com. They have an on-line subscription for 1900 census images with index. Search is limited as there is no wild carding or soundex on the surnames. This subscription is based on their census CDs. I currently use all of the ancestry and genealogy.com census stuff. I have a cable modem so getting the images is fast. the 1900 subscription tends to be flaky at times, usually weekends. I hope this helps, john. At 12:06 AM 2001-08-10 -0400, you wrote: >Hi...
