    1. Re: [DAVIDSON-L] Mary Davidson b. 1804 IRE>NY>WI
    2. Mary B: Sorry, I don't have the census information for NY or WI yet. I have no Davidsons, other than Mary. Mary Davidson McKinney's daughter, Ann Jane b. 1831 NY, married in Franklin Co., NY and stayed in NY. Several of your census postings are possibilities. Ann and several members of her family were in Camillus, Onondaga Co., Tompkins, Chemung, Schuyler, and Schenectady, NY. I may know more after Sat. I plan on going to the library in Ft. Wayne, IN. I'll let you know if I find anything. Thanks, Patty

    2. I thought some of you on the list might be interested in this little bit of information, When Samuel Davidson was killed on Jones mountain while looking for his horse , his wife escaped along with a servant (slave). In August 1992 at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, N.C., at the Davidson-Alexander reunion one of the honored guest was John Baxter who is a descendant of of the servant, her name was Liza Davidson. She took the Davidson name. Bob Robert Winslow Davidson

    2. I was interested in your NY Davidson connection. Was that the area that at one time might have been New Hampshire? Do you have any Rogers that married into this Davidson family. Dean Rogers, b 1786 in NH was married to Purity Davidson who was born in 1800 in Rutherford Co., TN. I would be interested to know what you think about the Rogers and Davidson connection. 2. Francisco was the son of Simeon Davidson, not his brother. My gr gr gandmother was Eliza Davidson, niece of Simeon, who grew up with Francisco. I have more info for those interested I can give what I have. Simeon had a brother named Benjamin (Eliza's father) and possibly Peter and Elizabeth were siblings also. Frank Davidson is buried near his father, mother, step mother and brothers in Lenawee Co, MI. I have the cemetary name somewhere also. Simeon's parents were John and Catherine Davidson. I don't know much abt them, beyond what is stated in Simeon's bio- they lived in NJ, the family was in the colonies, pre-revolution and they moved to Lodi, Seneca Co, NY around 1800 because that's where Simeon was born. Hope this helps someone. Regards, Sandy Manier

    1. Re: [DAVIDSON-L] john, etc.
    2. John Below is one of the reasons the Davidson's had no use for young Morrison "While the British were on the lookout for rebels, they went to the home of Maj.William Davidson. Young Morrison, her husband's half-brother, attempting to frighten her into revealing the hiding place of her husband by pointing a gun at her, In a threatening manner, He failed to get any information." While Miss While Miss Ruth was a girl and her father’s home was on the upper part of Catawba River, the Revolutionary War occurred. Her father, Major William Davidson, espoused the cause of the Americans and Morrison, his haft-brother, that of the British. In the progress of that war and when Major William Davidson was away from home, on one occasion a party of Tories under the leadership of Morrison raided the major’s home in the presence of Miss Ruth and her mother. Years afterwards when Miss Ruth had become Mrs. General Samuel Williams and when they had prospered greatly and were living near Columbia, Tennessee, a stranger visited that town and bought some land there. General Williams met him and invited him to visit the Williams home. The stranger made the visit and received most hospitable entertainment. After the first meal Mrs. Williams said to her husband privately that she would always exert herself to welcome any guest of his but that in the stranger she recognized her uncle Morrison who had, in the days of the Revolution, behaved in so unbrotherlike a manner to her father’s unprotected family. General Williams communicated to his guest, who had not recognized his hostess, the embarrassment of the situation. At once the stranger departed not only from the home where his presence was objectionable but also from the county. They never heard of him again. The land which the stranger had so bought he conveyed to trustees for a female school and that land is yet devoted to that use. Bob Robert Winslow Davidson John B.
