I'm still looking for parents and siblings of my Jacob Davidson, born in Pennsylvania, 1800 - married in Pennsylvania and moved to Indiana in 1847. Since it is not the most common Davidson name, I could imagine there is a link there somewhere. 1. RE: [DAVIDSON-L] Jacob Davidson and Sarah Selvidge/Selvage

    3. Laroice - I hope you can remember where that church information came from. William was not the brother of Jacob as William was born in 1801; however, I believe that he may have been a nephew. This is the William that on his marriage bond was listed as William Davidson (alias Clark). I have two ideas on that. Lydia Davidson, daughter of James and Hannah Davidson, married a _____ Clark about 1798/99 (forgot the exact date). I'm thinking that William could have been her son, maybe something happened to her and her husband and William was raised by the Davidson's and took his mother's name. Another theory is that he was the son of one of the other Davidson boys and was sent to live with the Clark family as a teen. I was told by someone in Jefferson Co, TN that boys were frequently known by the farm that they lived and worked on. Perhaps if I could get the settlement of James Davidson/Davison's will, then maybe it would give some help. If I could locate some descendents of Jacob Davidson and Sarah Selvage, I thought that maybe they would know something. I have been unable to find a marriage record for Lydia Davidson and ? Clark. It might help if I knew his name or where they married. Jacob's wife, Sarah, and William's wife, Eleanor Selvage, were sisters. We now know that for sure as we just found the will and settlement of Jeremiah Selvage in Roane Co, TN which refers to them as his daughters, Eleanor Davidson and Sarah Davidson. I am excited about this new information and hope that it will bring me closer to the truth about the parents of Jacob and William. Jacob may well be the son of James and Hannah - per his birth date and the census records - they put him very close to the right age. He was about 13 years older than William. I am more hopeful that we might be closer to an answer to this riddle about William Davidson (alias Clark). - Amy -----Original Message----- From: Laroice Davidson [mailto:davidsonl001@hawaii.rr.com] Sent: Sunday, August 19, 2001 5:15 PM To: DAVIDSON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [DAVIDSON-L] Jacob Davidson and Sarah Selvidge/Selvage Hi, I have often wondered if this Jacob was the brother of William Davidson . 2. There is a James A. Davidson in my clan. The only information I have on James is that he was born 8/24/1837 (in Georgia) and died 12/13/1862. My understanding is he was killed during a battle in the Civil War and is buried in Fredericksburg, Virginia. His parents were Elizabeth P. (McKee) Davidson and John Davidson, Jr. They were from Georgia. His grandfather was John Davidson (a young Revolutionary War soldier) -- born in Pennsylvania - moved to South Carolina before the Revolution - moved to Georgia after the Revolution. A. G. DAVIDSON

    1. [DAVIDSON-L] Frederick Davidson, NC/SC TO KY? to IN to IL
    2. Mac Bozman
    3. Good day Davidson listers, I am seeking help with Fredrick Davidson, b. 1803 NC or SC (1850 cenus says NC, 1860 and gravestone says SC). His mother is Mary, his father unknown. Sister Matilda born 1813, SC. In 1829 he married Elizabeth Wheeler in Gibson Co. IN. Bought land in 1829 and 1831, sold it in 1834. In 1835 he is in Walnut Grove Twnsp. (now Media) of Warren Co. IL, now Henderson Co. Mother Mary arrived in time for the 1850 cenus in Henderson Co. IL with Matilda only. She dies 1864, aged 104 years, born in GA. Frederick died 1866. Who are his parents, Mary ? and ? Davidson? There is a large Davidson family;, Alexander with sons Elijah and Hezakiah in Warren Co. IL starting in 1829, supposedly from Barren Co. KY. Some go on to Oregon. Gibson Co.IN has James Davidson Sr. and James, a doctor with a Elijah Davidson of Chillocothe disputing James Sr.'s estate circa 1820, also an Amaziah Davidson who is plantiff against James, Jr. Sons of Fred(er)ick Davidson are Francis Marion, Theodore, Commodore, and John. Please, any and all help appreciated. Have just returned from Gibson Co. IN and Warren and Henderson Cos IL. I am currently stumped. Best wishes, Mac mbozman@su.edu

    1. Re: [DAVIDSON-L] Re: Alexander Davidson
    2. No, Florence, those names don't look familiar to me. Our James Alexander Davidson was born probably about 1835 or so. He was married to Mary Jane "Polly" (or "Molly") Prather in Clay County, Missouri. They had one daughter from that marriage that we know of, and her name was Fannie (Frances Lee) Davidson. Evidentally James died either during the Civil War or about that time, because we have Mary Jane Prather-Davidson remarried to a Mister Moore when Fannie was about fourteen years old. Fannie had at least three half-siblings that were born to this second marriage. I understand, too, that James Alexander Davidson is buried in Clay County, Missour. I do appreciate your taking the time to write and let me know that I've hit another semi-deadend (Someday we're going to find out that ALL of these Davidson's are all one big happy family!). I really know nothing more about James Davidson -- I have his birthdate as 1764/1768 (pretty indefinite) and his date of death Aug. 22, 1824 in Obion Co., TN. His children were Nancy (my gr gr grandmother who m John D. Murray), Alexander, Reuben, Elizabeth (m. James Tatum), Margaret (m Richard Tubb), Richard and Susan. Does any of this mean anything to you? Florence
