    1. [DAVIDSON-L] Davidson's/ Satterwhites and others
    2. Pam
    3. The Satterwhites and the Davidsons were in SC together, (they were also in Va., I think if it is the same ones around the Andrews) I know there was a Sr. and a Jr. Satterwhite. I have the one and only land deed on Rowland Andrews (gggg'grandfather, that I could find) where he bought land together with Henry Newton that married Nancy Davidson. Sister to Mary that married Rowland. Also on the paper was a B Satterwhite Jr. Robert Plant, Elizabeth Davidson (which I think they got married, reason, being when she came to Coosa Co. Al the admin. to her estate was a Silas Plant and witness it was a Elizabeth Plant) If anyone knows if Elizabeth married Robert Plant, I would appreciate it. thanks Pam

    3. Does anyone have information on the FamilyTree Maker bundle that has the 35 or so CDs with it? The package is $99 or around there. Do you know if FTM put in new CDs or is this bundle a recycled bundle they had out a couple years ago. I'm considering upgrading and wondered if the added expense would be a worthy investment. Kay

    2. If you are looking for a Satterwhite and Davidson connection from Georgia -- I want to give you the e-mail for Rex Sands. <Rexmt2@aol.com> Rex has Davidsons, Satterwhites, and Sands in his family tree. I am related to Rex through the Sands and Satterwhites. Even though we are "cousins" -- our Davidsons are not related. However, they lived in the same area of Georgia. He can fill you in with more. Good luck, Anna Gayle DAVIDSON McClure

    1. Re: [DAVIDSON-L] Robert Emmett Davidson -Tennessee
    2. Mary, You are absolutely correct. My math was way off. Maybe William R. Davidson's son, Major Robert Emmett Davidson, was named after this other Robert Emmett Davidson who died in Tennessee. However, I know the names of William R's siblings, so the connection would have to be a relative to W. R. Davidson -- not his brother. Thank you very much for pointing that out to me. Of course, William R. "could" have had a son at 15 -- but I doubt it. William R. had a daughter named Martha (Mattie) C. Davidson . As far as I know -- she was the oldest of his children. She was born in Georgia on 11/17/1858. This means W. R. was twenty-three when she was born. According to an old LaGrange newspaper article, W. R. Davidson had four sons and two daughters. I only know the names of three sons and one daughter. So far -- all born after 1858. Thank you very much for pointing out my mistake. I was so excited about finding a Robert Emmett Davidson -- I missed that important detail. Anna Gayle

I was told they lived around or near Bell's Mill, which I believe is in Walker Co. One of the boys, Tilleropake married Martha Caylor in Randolph Co., AL. One was named George, one Joshua and one was nicknamed Ag. It is believed their father was Thomas or Tom Davidson. If you have the headstone inscription for Joshua I would like to know what it says since it was suggested he was a member of the Blackwater tribe. I have not had much success finding this group of folks so any info you can share would be appreciated. Thanks

    2. Dear Davidson list members, I am trying to find information about a Robert Emmett Davidson who died March 14, 1915 at the age of 65 in Fayetteville, Tennessee. He is buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Today, I was sent information from a very helpful gentlemen that Robert Emmett is listed in the Marsh book "Cemetery Records of Lincoln County, TN" page 549. If he is the Robert Emmett Davidson I am researching, he was born in Georgia and was a Major in the Spanish-American War. Before the war, he lived in Ocala, Florida....I have no information on him after the war. His death notice is in the March 18, 1915, Fayetteville Observer - page 5 and column 4. If this Robert Emmett is the brother of my grandfather (David Davidson), I am hoping I can find information about their parents from the newspaper's death notice. If anyone is researching Fayetteville or Lincoln County, Tennessee -- or if you live in that area -- I would love to hear from you. Does anyone know if there is still a Fayetteville Observer in Lincoln County, TN? Since I do not live near Tennessee -- I would appreciate a suggestion as to how one goes about obtaining the death write-up from an old newspaper in another state? Notes for THOMAS HOOD DITTO: The book, History of the Ditto Families, from the FHL in Salt Lake City does have information on your Eli Ditto (17 Nov 1828-24 Jan 1920) who first married Mary Harris (15 July 1830- ca 1895) on 22 Feb 1852 in Marshall County., AL. His second wife was Margrette A. McCann (01 Sep 1844- 05 Dec 1914). They married 01 Sep 1872, possibly in Orange Co., TX . Both Eli and Margrette died in China Springs, Texas. He was the oldest of twelve children of William Ditto (13 Feb 1806-14 April 1869, farmer who died of smallpox). William's first wife was Mary Davidson (10 Jan 1808-ca 1840). This book traces this family back through Josiah (ca 1780-1823), James (ca 1743-Oct 1828) who was called Old Man Ditto and started Ditto's Landing on the Tennessee River near Huntsville AL, William (ca 1713-after 1774) who moved from MD to the Carolinas, James (ca 1690-ca 1732), and Abraham (ca 1661) who was residing in colonial Maryland before 1700. He may have been a French Huguenot who escaped his native France in the 1600s during a period of religious persecution via way of Scotland. My ancestor, Thomas Hood Ditto, was a half-brother of Eli. www.mindspring.com/~chuckgross Six Generations of Thomas Hood Ditto Descendants This information is from my genealogical database. 3. John - Can you tell us how to order the 1880 CD's. - Amy -----Original Message----- From: John B. Lisle [mailto:jbl@tqsi.com] Sent: Friday, August 10, 2001 1:55 AM To: DAVIDSON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [DAVIDSON-L] Census CDs Lynne, Which years? Which states? Probably one of the best deals available right now is the 1880 CDs from the LDS. I have not seen them, but I have seen reviews of them which have raved about them. It is the complete 1880 census, transcribed and indexed - not images - onto about 50 CDs for $49. Other than that, I guess the online services from ancestry.com is probably the best deal, especially if you have a fast internet line for images. They are still rolling it out and there are no indices yet for the later years. Ancestry has 1790 and 1800 complete, 1810 partial, 1880 complete, 1900-1920 mostly complete. Ancestry also has the AIS index which is 1790-1850, plus some later years - but just index. Genealogy.com has partial 1850 images with index and similar index for 1790-1850/60 as part of GenealogyLibrary.com. They have an on-line subscription for 1900 census images with index. Search is limited as there is no wild carding or soundex on the surnames. This subscription is based on their census CDs. I currently use all of the ancestry and genealogy.com census stuff. I have a cable modem so getting the images is fast. the 1900 subscription tends to be flaky at times, usually weekends. I hope this helps, john. At 12:06 AM 2001-08-10 -0400, you wrote: >Hi...
