Dear Mona, Thank you for telling me about Random Acts of Kindness. I will certainly use it. Cross you fingers for me. What Davidson "clan" are you researching? Mine starts in PA before the Revolution > then they moved to South Carolina > then to Georgia. Thank you again for "your" kindness. Anna Gayle DAVIDSON McClure
I am trying to find information about Zack Davidson of Georgia. I have in my possession a newspaper article from family papers that says he was a Colonel and he lived in Gabbettville, Georgia and Texas, Georgia. I think Gabbettville is in Troup County and Texas may be in Heard County, Georgia. Col. Zack Davidson would have been the son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Davidson from the West Point, Georgia area. William R. had four boys and two girls. I know three of the boys names and I believe, Col. Zack Davidson, is the missing fourth son. His siblings were born in the time frame of 1858 to 1868. Due to an old census, I believe he was born after 1860. One of his brothers was Robert Emmett Davidson. Robert Emmett was a Major in the Spanish - American war. Zack may have been in that war -- or possibly WW1. Does anyone know if there is a place on-line that lists officers in either of those wars? I finally have an unusual name for a Davidson ancestor. Plus, I now know where my father got his name Zack. This newspaper article has been in front of my nose for ages....and I just connected to it today while I was looking up something for one of our Davidson list members. The article was written when my brother left for Vietnam. The article mentioned other Davidsons in our family who had served their country. I had information about the others, but not Zack. The article called Col. Zack Davidson my brother's great uncle. I realized today that this is a perfect fit for him to be my great grandfather's missing son. As for the name Zack -- in my Dad's case -- many times his name was mistaken for Jack. If anyone has any additional information on a Col. Zack/Jack Davidson from Georgia, it would be great to hear from you. Thanks, Anna Gayle

Thank you Mary for posting those wills. Besides providing valuable and interesting information, they give a glimpse into life over two centuries ago, and are fascinating reading. It is wonderful to see how many families were interrelated, which leads to how we are all interrelated at some point.

PATRIOTISM AND LOVE OF COUNTRY ARE NOT IDEALS WHICH MOST OF US VOICE OPENLY OR FREQUENTLY; THEY ARE, HOWEVER, CARRIED CLOSE TO THE HEART. EVENTS THIS PAST WEEK HAVE SERVED TO BRING THEM TO THE SURFACE. CAUSING THE TEMPERS OF OVER 285 MILLION AMERICANS TO FLARE. WE COULD VERY WELL TAKE FOR OUR NATION 'S MOTTO THE WARNING BY CHARLES GADSON WHICH FLEW ON MANY A FLAG IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR: "DON'T TREAD ON ME." MANY OF US WERE OUT THERE FRIDAY NIGHT WITH OUR CANDLES, AND WITH OUR FLAGS. EVERYWHERE I GO I SEE FLAGS: BIG FLAGS, LITTLE FLAGS, NEW FLAGS, FADED FLAGS..ON STREETS, HANGING FROM HOME WINDOWS, STUCK ON THE GLASS IN CAR WINDOWS, FASTENED TO ANTENNAS. SOME ARE BEING WORN ON T-SHIRTS...AND IT IS A SIGN OF SUPPORT AND RESPECT. YOUNG PEOPLE ARE ENLISTING IN THE ARMED FORCES BY THE THOUSANDS. IN DOING GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH..."TRACING MY ROOTS"..I HAVE COME ACROSS ANCESTORS WHO CENTURIES BACK FOUGHT FOR FREEDOM AND FOR THEIR BELIEFS. BROTHER FOUGHT BESIDE BROTHER AND COUSIN IN OUR WAR FOR INDEPENDENCE. ON OCCASION...ONE THAT I KNOW...BROTHER FOUGHT AGAINST BROTHER. EVEN HE WAS FIGHTING FOR WHAT HE BELIEVED. AND FOR THESE ANCESTORS, MINE AND YOURS, WHO WORKED AND FOUGHT TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY WHAT IT IS, I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL. I GIVE THANKS FOR OUR ANCESTORS WHO FOUGHT AND DIED IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR; FOR THOSE WHO FOUGHT ONE ANOTHER IN THE WAR BETWEEN THE STATES, EACH FIGHTING FOR WHAT HE OR SHE BELIEVED IN. I AM THANKFUL FOR THOSE WHO WERE THERE WITH TEDDY ROOSEVELT, AND FOR THOSE WHO DIED ON THE BLOODY BATTLEFIELDS IN WWI. I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN THE ONES WHO TOOK PART IN THE FOLLOWING STRUGGLE TO ELIMINATE THE NAZI HORROR, NOR THOSE OTHERS WENT TO KOREA AND TO VIET NAM. AND I THANK YOU, ALL OF YOU, WHO BURNED THE CANDLES, HUNG THE FLAGS, DONATED BLOOD AND MONEY, AND IN COUNTLESS OTHER WAYS SHOWED YOUR SUPPORT FOR OUR COUNTRY. JOANNE DAVIDSON SALIBY

If you log onto rootweb.com and look for Random Acts Of Kindness. There are volunteers who are willing to look things up. Wonderful story, thanks for sharing. Do you know if there is a list of the John Davison's siblings anywhere? This group does not fit my Davidson(Davison) who was born 1812 in Greene Co.,OH but his father may have been a brother to John. Just checking any lead I can find since I am have trouble finding my Richard Davidson in Greene Co. OH. He traveled into IN with his parents, whomever they were, and married Evaline Applegate in Delaware Co.,IN in 1836. So far no one seems to be searching this line. Anyone out there hunting for Davidsons in Delaware or Franklin Co., IN? Please e-mail me. thanks for your time. F.Kay Hunter Roberts
If anyone is online now that is very FTM smart, I have a big problem and need some help. thanks Pam pamjh@charter.net
William L. E. Was the Colonel William Lee DAVIDSON's grandson. > Moses Jones Davidson was my great-grandfather. Some of the confusion about Wm.Lee Davidson happens because there was a Wm. Lee and a Wm. L. E. We think, perhaps, cousins?!?
