    1. [DAVIDSON-L] Alexander and Andrew Davidson
    2. Dr. Janet Littlejohn
    3. I went to the rootsweb site where these papers are located. I found information on an Alexander Davidson as well as previously cited information about Andrew. I hope this helps someone since this does not appear to be my family. I'm looking for Joseph or Josiah born about 1766. Janet Littlejohn Charles Henry Gauss Family Papers DAVIDSON, alexander Davidson, of South Carolina, married SARAH ELLIS, and settled in KY, from whence, in 1821, he removed to MO and settled in Montgomery Co. They had 3 children, John, Abraham and Rachel. Abraham was married first to MARY BRANSON, by whom he had 12 children, Alexander, Alfred, Abraham, Stout B., Franklin, Hezekiah, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, Mary, Louisa, and Martha. His first wife died and he was married the 2nd time to the widow HUBBARD, by whom he had William and John A. Mr. Davidson was not out of the county during the last forty-five years of his life. This is from:Montgomery Families A-D DAVIDSON.-- Andrew Davidson, of KY., came to MO. in 1811, but returned in 1813, and married SARAH JOHNSON. In 1830 he came back to MO. and settled in St. Charles Co. His children were Susan, Greenberry, William, Angeline, Eliza J., Salome, and John. The old gentleman was a great friend of the Indians, and in order to manifest his good feelings, he kept a lot of tobacco with which he would fill their pouches when they stopped at his house. One of his sons, a mischievous lad, poured a pound of gunpowder into the tobacco, and several of the Indians got their faces and noses burnt in attempting to smoke it. This, of course, was taken as a mortal offense, and it was with the greatest difficulty that Mr. Davidson kept the Indians from killing himself and his family. This is from: St. Charles Families C-D

    3. Although not on most lists, a James Davison of Washington county, Va. should be added to the Rev. War list. He is noted in Drapers papers as having given a deposition in the Campbell-Sevier-Shelby controvery but the dtthe deposition, used by most to compile a list of those at Kings Mountain, was not included. The deposition, however, was included in the Campbell papers and it described James' memory of the involvement of Col. Campbell in Kings Mountains It was this James' line which gave land for a county seat of Scott county, Va., named as Gate City, and his line formed the basis of this Scott county, and later Lee County, line. tdb0301@viafamily.com wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FNR.2ACEB/2210.1.2.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Wayne, > It is so wonderful to find a cousin from the same child I am from. I have a unique Tree: I am a Davidson from Scott Co VA born in Oak Ridge TN to the granddaughter of the Rev John H. Davidson whose paternal grandmother was also a Davidson from Camp- bell Co VA. I think that I am 75% Davidson and 99% Scot!HA My problem is that my grandfathers home burned leaving no family record and my aunts burned all of the family letters except for the one I have to John H. from Wm R in 1903! It lists their ancestors as William, Samuel, & Wm Bunkum. BUT who is this Wm Bunkum(Buncombe) and was he from NC? Does anybody know about him and Anna Nickle daughter of William Nickle & Rachel Haslet? Anderson Co TN prior to 1850. They were all neighbors in 1830 census!
