    3. Assuming, I know, we shouldn't assume but most doing research on a specific surname are probably related... therefore I'm assuming you're possibly a Davidson cousin. I don't know about Verne Davidson but there are in the Montgomery Co. and West central Indiana descendents of Robert L. and William F.Davidson, brothers, who came into the area about 1830 and some of the cousins are quite knowledgable of the family history... Check with Vicki (D). Deer, e-mail, <vickid@link2000.net> and the best of luck. I would be interested in your success... someone's cousin, Charlie Dbd1alamos@aol.com wrote: > In a message dated 11/12/2001 6:03:40 AM Mountain Standard Time, > lourutherford@aol.com writes: > > << lourutherford@aol.com >> > > Louita: > > I found nothing in the SS Death Index or under the various marriage data > bases in <www.ancestry.com>. Janet Littlejohn > > Charles Henry Gauss Family Papers > > > DAVIDSON, alexander Davidson, of South Carolina, married SARAH ELLIS, and settled in KY, from whence, in 1821, he removed to MO and settled in Montgomery Co. They had 3 children, John, Abraham and Rachel. Abraham was married first to MARY BRANSON, by whom he had 12 children, Alexander, Alfred, Abraham, Stout B., Franklin, Hezekiah, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, Mary, Louisa, and Martha. His first wife died and he was married the 2nd time to the widow HUBBARD, by whom he had William and John A. Mr. Davidson was not out of the county during the last forty-five years of his life. This is from:Montgomery Families A-D > > DAVIDSON.-- Andrew Davidson, of KY., came to MO. in 1811, but returned in 1813, and married SARAH JOHNSON. In 1830 he came back to MO. and settled in St. Charles Co. His children were Susan, Greenberry, William, Angeline, Eliza J., Salome, and John. The old gentleman was a great friend of the Indians, and in order to manifest his good feelings, he kept a lot of tobacco with which he would fill their pouches when they stopped at his house. One of his sons, a mischievous lad, poured a pound of gunpowder into the tobacco, and several of the Indians got their faces and noses burnt in attempting to smoke it. This, of course, was taken as a mortal offense, and it was with the greatest difficulty that Mr. Davidson kept the Indians from killing himself and his family. > This is from: St. Charles Families C-D > > > > > > > > ==== DAVIDSON Mailing List ==== > DAVIDSON - DAVISON - DAVISSON Web Page > http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~genea/davidson.html >
