Jane, There's a family rumor that William BELL DAVIDSON, my ggrandfather, stowed away to America with a brother/cousin. He ended up as a registered Pharmacist in Arkansas before he crossed the river into Indian Territory (Tamaha, OK, today) where he died in 1906. My grandmother, who was proned to exaggerate, said she saw a picture of his home in Scotland and it looked like a castle. Don't know what that means!!! We know he was 'from' Glasgow but don't know if he was born there. Barbara DAVIDSON Norkus "looking for that needle in a haystack ..."
This is for Gary Forbus who is researching the same Samuel Blane Davidson or Blane Samuel Davidson that I am. Tried to reply to your email, but your server bounced it back. Evidently there were two Samuel Davidson's in Fayette Co., Ill about the same time. B. Davidson is page l47 - West; Samuel page l46 West; and John l46 West. 1840 Nicholas W. Davidson was the executor of Blane Davidson's estate. 15th Nov 1845 Blane died intestate about 26th Oct 1845 Paper filed later in Nov. lists Nicholas and James.and the bond was for $300.00. >From the sale of goods, Polly Davidson, Nicholas Davidson, John Davidson, James Davidson, Jacob Cunningham ,William Hinton Samuel Davidson married Amy Russell the 10th of Feb. 1825. Amy applied to be named as administrator of the estate and final settlement was Aug 5th l847 Lists children: John Maclay Davidson, Samuel Minny Davidson and Matina Emerette Davidson, all minor children. On the l850 census - Amy is listed as age 45 Pa. , Ruth E. age l9 ; John M. age l5, Samuel M. age 11; and Myrtina age 7 . Children all born in Illinois. They are living with A. B. West & Family. Augustin B. West married Ann E. Davidson l8 Feb. l847. A. B. West is 24 born in Pa.; Ann E. is age 2l, born in Ill.; Lucy J. West is 2 years and Amy J. is 11/12 years. It would appear that Samuel and Ann E. Davidson are related. Brother & sister? John W. Davidson, died 6 Jan 1859 age 22 years, ll mos., 1 da Samuel M. Davidson, died 5 March 1861 age 20 years 27 days. James Davidson married Sally Prather 29 May l836 and they are named guardian's of Bazel Prater's or Prather children on Feb 8, l837. James & Sarah Davidson , guardian of children under 14 years of age. Anna Jane, John Ephraim, Thomas Jeffersonh, Minerva Prater until they become lawful age. My mother's maiden name was Davidson. It is my understanding that our ancestors came to Nashville or its area in the 1700's or 1800's and settled there. I also understand that Davidson County was named for our ancestors. I am attempting to verify this.

I saw where he and his mother settled near Nashville in the late 1700s or early 1800s. In fact there are more records than on my William and he was suppose to be a Senator from NC. I cannot find anything about his children or grandchildren in TN and possibly KY.

The William I have been searching for was born in Scotland in 1854 (Feb 11 is what we have as his birth date). The 1900 census says he was born in 1849 and that he immigrated to the US in 1870. A possible connection? Barbara DAVIDSON Norkus "looking for that needle in a haystack ..."

My father passed away in 80' and I have no more information. If this connects with you, please contact me. His wife, my grandmother, was Jenny Lynn Craw he was born in 1862 and she was born in 1872. I'm trying this for the second time. If you get this twice, please forgive and I'm open from instruction. Greetings from the Netherlands. I am searching for information on John T. Davidson who married Peter Ann Ivy in Caddo Parish, Louisiana on Jan. 21, 1857. I have tried to locate them thru the 1860 Federal census, but have been unsuccessful. I have no further information such as where or when he was born, or the names of his parents or children. Any help or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. Cordially, Susan Scott
