Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FNR.2ACEB/2287.1.1.2.1.2 Message Board Post: My understanding is three William Davidsons were first cousins. General, Major, and Lt.Colonel The General was killed in NC, the Major died in Buncombe Co, and Lt Colonel was supposedly the 1st Senator of Buncombe Co and moved to Knox Co TN @ 1795. The records are mixed up in the National Archives and seem to be confused as to which Wm was known as the Colonel. The General was dead and the Major stayed in Buncombe Co and some say he went to TN for awhile but returned and is buried in Buncombe Co. There is a monument to Wm Lee Davidson in Morgan Co and info about him is that he was born in VA and fought with the Overthemountain Boys at the Battle of Kings Mt. Then he and brother James settled in Rutherford County and were involved in the formation of Buncombe Co and later was Justice of the Peace in TN. I lose James in NC when they moved to Knox Co but there was a James in Russell Co VA that might be the same man. He married a Nancy Osborne and settled along the Big Mocassi! n around 1745? This settlement was on the Warrior's Path from NC to KY! Wm the Colonel opened a tavern on the Wilderness Road to KY in Morgan TN. Does this seem unusual or were the Davidsons trying to control or capitalize on the Pioneers moving west? The mircofilm record has a letter stating that he thought the Colonel was involved in the government of NC before moving to TN. I am a Davidson and it is confusing to me. What about some government employee trying to put records together. I can see the confusion amongst the three Wm Davidsons. No telling about the sons and cousins who were named Wm, Samuel, John and Alexander!

They were Cumberland Presbyterian. Her father John Henry Davidson became the minister of Wheat Cumberland Presbyterian Church @ 1911. Nobody has the records or they are privately owned. I donated a copy of some records to the NC State Archives recorded when John was the clerk prior to his ordination. His obiturary stated that he was the circuit rider for 5 churches in the Oak Ridge/Knoxville area. I am looking for his grandfather William Davidson married to Anna Nickle and daughter of Wm Nickle & Rachel Haslet. Rachel was living with son, John Nichols(Lodemy Farmer) in 1850.

    3. Hi, Davidson Cuzzins: The below website may be of help to those of you who are looking for ancestors in the 'Ohio region' and beyond. Shirley: bobert@i-1.net - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Online genealogy gets a boost from Hayes Presidential Center FREMONT, OHIO - The search for missing branches in your family tree is quicker than ever thanks to the Hayes Presidential Center. The addition of an advanced search engine to the Center's online "Obituary Index" (www.rbhayes.org/index) makes finding information about ancestors from Northwest Ohio as simple as hitting a few keys on a computer keyboard. The Hayes Presidential Center partnered with Networld Online of Fremont to make the "Obituary Index" available on the Internet. The genealogical resource is an index to published obituary notices for more than 215,000 individuals with connections to Sandusky, Erie and Seneca counties. Now, the Index has been enhanced with an advanced search option. The new feature increases the likelihood of finding an ancestor by permitting searches by maiden name, alternative spellings, or by year. The index also covers related information such as probate records, organizational memberships, and, in some cases, marriages. Genealogists already are reaping the benefits of the addition. "Congratulations. You've taken this from being a great tool to an absolutely super one," wrote a recent "Obituary Index" user from Michigan. "What a wonderful source of information your service is. I hope other family genealogists take advantage, as it can open the door to a wealth of family history," said a Canadian user. Under contract with the Hayes Presidential Center, Networld also created a shopping cart for the database. This makes it possible for genealogists to order and pay online for copies of full, published versions of obituaries. The charge is $2.50 per copy. Previously, out-of-town residents had to send obituary requests and payments by mail. The shopping cart and secure website make the entire procedure possible via the Internet. The "Obituary Index" continues to grow and become more regional. he Tiffin-Seneca County Public Library is in the process of adding its database of 100,000 obituaries to it. The beginnings of this project was made possible by a grant of $5000 from the Seneca County Genealogical Society, Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society For more information on the "Obituary Index" call Becky Hill at 419-332-2081. Researchers also are welcome to visit the Library 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Admission is free. The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center includes the Library, the Museum and the President's home and is located in Spiegel Grove. The main entrance is at the corner of Hayes and Buckland avenues. Surnames: Davidson Jordan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FNR.2ACEB/2323 Message Board Post: Hi, I am looking for the parents and ancestors of my Great-grandfather Thomas Newton Davidson (Tom Davidson) b. May 28 1867 in Indiana and died Aug 23 1955 in Long Beach, CA. I know nothing of his family other than A picture taken once with a bunch of Davidson men in the late 1800's at a rare davidson gathering. My grandmother Jewell said they spent most of their time with her mothers family Elizabeth Jordan of Vincennes, IN. Tom D. married Lizzie Jordan prior to 1896 when their first child of eleven to come was still born. Four of those kids are alive today! But none know or remeber Tom Davidson's parents names. Gladys now 97-1/2 said yesterday "They were too busy, "they didn't have time for us so we never knew them". Tom was known to take odd jobs between farming to make ends meet for the family of 7 girls and 3 sons. He worked would go away from home for months at a time and send money back from the railroad, resturant jobs and retail store work. From 1895-abt 1913 the family lived in Vincennes around the Jordan relatives of whom I know much about and am in touch with. After that the entire family moved to a mountain top in Arkansas where Tom built a large house. The whole family farmed, canned and sold vegetables to people down the mountain road. In the early 1930's much of the family moved west. Some daughters along with the parents moved to Long Beach where they still remain. The childrens names were Flossie, Daisy, Delphia, Leona, May, Gladys, Newt, Claribell, Geneva(jewell), Jay and Burt (John Burlin) most of which I knew or know now. If this rings any bells I'd appreciate the input Randy

DAVIDSON FAMILY BIBLE.~ This is an old family bible in fairly bad condition. First few pages missing, so not sure of the title or date (early 1800s?). First page of the New Testament indicates it was published in Edinburgh, "Printed by the Assigns of Alexander Kincaid, His Majesty's Printer." They made their own Family Register between the pages of the Old Testament and the Apocrypha. Robert Davidson and Ann Johnson married 4/26/1787. Children were Christian, Ann, Mary, George, Benjamin Johnson, Robert, William, Richard Cox (died one year later in 1803), Samuel Miller (?), Deborah, Elizabeth, and Jane. 2. Ben - Do you have any of these names in your line: Levi, Josiah, Alvoree? I feel that there is probably a connection -- or maybe its just coincidence, but let me relate the following. My ancestor, Levi, born 1799 and died in Perry Co., TN in 1851. The court house burned, of course, so records are missing. However, I did locate on microfilm in the Nashville, TN archives a portion of information relating to :Levi and his estate. Alvoree Davidson (of Christian/Greene Co., Mo) and G. A. Dabbs were adm. of his estate and Aquila Davidson signed a trust or warranty deed to them in their capacity as admin. of Levi's estate for $18.76 for the value of his carpenter tools for some kind of debt he owed. I have no more information that this. It is possible that Alvoree is the son of Levi and that Aquila could be a nephew but I'm at a brick wall. Do you have any information that could help? 3. Friends, Please take the time to go through your ADDRESS BOOK and delete anyone's address to whom you do not regularly write. YES, the names of the ones who've been infected will appear in your very own address book. That's the way the virus spreads...it writes itself into your program and then does it's dasterdly deeds. As you go through your address book, right click on each name that is not familiar to you. A dialog box will appear with the email address. Check to see if their is an underscore before the name, for example: _ldkd95@skyenet.net. My correct email address is ldkd95@skyenet.net . Do you see the difference? If there is an underscore at the beginning the address delete the entire address and run your virus scan program again. The virus writes itself into your addressbook and will continue to do so until you delete it. Since Friday all messages from this list have been clean. This viral infection began around 11/27. I am most certain the people did not intentionally start this so please do not publish partial names. If their problems have been one-tenth what I've gone through, their aggrevations do not need to be broadcast worldwide. It's Christmas and other religious celebratory time again. As a head's up... the MerryChristmas.exe is going around again. Now, guess how I know that one has surfaced! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. Now, go tell someone how much you appreciate them. Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arthur L.
