    1. Re: [DAVIDSON] DNA testing QUESTION
    2. Connie -- my brother (John E. Davidson) is waiting for the DNA kit to be sent to him, also. Now, you and I should really have some proof if we are or are not related. It will be great if we have the proof -- but can you imagine what it will be like to know that you and I are not matched? :) I ordered the 37 marker test -- hope that is enough. Why did you do the 59? Maybe I should go to a higher marker for the two of us to compare apples to apples. Do you think my 37 and your 59 will be enough to connect us to who we believe is our mutual ancestors? Any of suggestions from others? Connie and I think we have the same John Davidson gggggrandfather, John Davidson from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. QUESTION for anyone familiar with the test. My brother has not received the DNA test kit yet -- can I upgrade at this time -- or can I do it later -- of do I even need to? It is exciting to know Connie's brother and my brother are both going to be tested. Am I OK with the 37 -- even though Connie is going to have her brother do the 59? Anna Gayle DAVIDSON McClure

    3. Good morning, I just mailed my DNA (59 markers) in on Saturday morning. I am anxiously awaiting my report. My 2nd cousin lives in Houston and he went to the office in Houston and got a kit so we both could be tested. We have a common Davidson great grand father. Our Davidson has been traced to the early part of the 19th century in Georgia. This common ancestor gave the census enumerator information which said both of his parents were born in Georgia. If this could be taken as true, this means our Davidson family was in Georgia as early as the late part of the 18th century. Getting any documentation connecting my great grandfather to his parents has been a dead end for over 40 years and has eluded several professional genealogists who are experts in Georgia research. I am hoping this DNA might just crack the lineage door a bit so we can enlist some directions. Alvie L. 2. John, Hi, I spoke to you awhile back about joining the Davidson DNA project, well I finally did It today, I will be mailing it off tomorrow. My brother Gary W. Davidson took the test. I live In Washington State and he lives In Oregon, he came up here for the weekend. My question Is the test was sent to me so will they send the certificate to me as well. I bought the 59 marker, I sure cant wait for the results to come back. Mt Davidson's are from PA. to SC. to Illinois. Connie Davidson Dage

    3. The estate paperwork I have of an Albert J.(or I.) Davidson who died in Johnson County Missouri December 15, 1844, state under oath through their lawyer that this Albert J. Davidson is the son of Isaac Davidson of Barren County Kentucky...it states the other heirs of this Albert J. Davidson are siblings Allen Davidson, William B. Davidson Benjamin (H? or K) Davidson, Isaac W. Davidson, Winston F. Davidson, and Matilda C. Davidson all of Barren County Kentucky...There is also makes mention of a Elijah Davidson and a E & A J Davidson, I assume this is a company. In the limited research I did, I figured this Albert J. Davidson was the same son of Isaac Davidson from Barren County Ky married to Susannah Dodd, especially since they had children with the same names as what I have...on the Davidson research site I found in the 1850 Census of Barren County living with L. B. Hall and family was an Albert (Bishop) Davidson s/o Isaac Davidson and Susannah Dodd...with the remarks "Lunatic"....I was just assuming this research was correct, I figure this family of Davidson's must somehow be related to my family of Davidson's which lived in the same area at this same time... I surely didn't mean to imply that this Albert J. Davidson wasn't the Albert Bishop Davidson shown as the son of Isaac Davidson...but facts are facts...I have it from 1844 from a lawyer and each one of these people signed with seals. This isn't my direct family that I know of, I'm just researching the area of which my Davidson's lived. I do know from other Johnson County Records this Albert J. Davidson purchased land in Johnson County...it would appear his estate concluded a couple sales after his death. The names of this Davidson family have some similar names as my line...so this Davidson line could very well be part of my line. I don't know these Davidson's, but plan to look further into their family, for a possible connection to my Davidson line. If you have any questions please feel free to email me...I believe I've seen your postings in several places, and I surely have a lot of questions for you, since you seem to know a lot about this family. Thank you so much for your feelings on MY posting. 2. Hi there! Last August, my husband and I went to Gibson and Madison County, TN to research his side of the family -- not mine. My ancestors were Davidson's. During the research, we went to the Jackson/Madison County Library. I could have spent days on end there. We actually joined an online program for $10.00 that the library has available. Jack D. Wood was one of the librarians in the Tennessee Room for genealogy research. He was a treasure, as were all the librarians there. It was hard for me to stay focused on the McClure's (husband), because I kept seeing wonderful old records about Davidson's from that area. Since I do not think they were my direct Davidson's, I just drooled a little at the amount of information and kept working on the McClure's for him. However, I would like to give you the address of the library and other information. Jackson/Madison County Library 422 East Lafayette Street Jackson, TN 38301 (731) 425-8600 _www.jmcl.tn.org_ (http://www.jmcl.tn.org) email: [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) We stopped at several old churches throughout the area -- most had well-kept cemeteries right next to them. I saw many Davidson headstones. It was interesting -- it seemed as if first and second wives/husbands were all located in the same area of the cemetery with each other -- as were the children from both sets of families. I assume they were all neighbors and when a spouse died -- the remaining person didn't stay single for long. When we could connect with someone from a church, they were helpful about sharing the church archives. We, also, crossed Davidson Creeks and saw Davidson Lanes, etc. There is no doubt there were Davidson's in Trenton, Gibson County, Jackson and Madison County, TN. I suspect records are still available. Another great resource was at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. It is about 30 to 40 miles north of the TN and KY state line. The University has an incredible genealogy room -- with lots of information about Davidson's in Kentucky and Tennessee. Again, it was hard for me to stay focused on the McClure's --but it was my husband's birthday treat to research HIS McClure ancestors. I just wanted to give you the name of one of the library's that was the most helpful to us. Hopefully, it could help Davidson researchers in Tennessee. Good luck. Anna Gayle DAVIDSON McClure

My gr-grandfather was married twice I believe, I know for certain he had a son or step-son that went by the name Gus and I have a picture of him and I think I may have his complete name. I think he was a step-son....not certain. I believe my gr.-grandmother to be the second marriage. Her name of JoHanna (spelled in census Joe Anna) Lawrence that was supposedly born in Kentucky. The reason we didn't know all family member was because my gr-father Abner Hall Davidson, was left with nine young children to raise. Of course, they helped raised each other. My father was born in Trenton, Tn., Gibson County. I never got to know uncle Gus, but I knew uncle Park, and Uncle Guy and Uncle Charley, all my great uncles. Let me know, I am so excited! We were very close to the great uncles Park and Guy that lived in Memphis, Tennessee. To make things worse for my family lineage search is that my grandmother, Abner Hall Davidson's spouse, died during her last (9th) child birth! So on that side of the family I hit a brick wall also. She too was left an orphan and reared by an Uncle. He grandfather William C. Robertson left his entire estate to her which was pretty hefty but by the time.....well you can imagine the rest. We just might be related and more closely than I ever imagined. I know that there is surely a way for us to find Uncle Charley's family (as in descendants perhaps), Uncle Park's daughter is still alive and I spoke with her recently she lives in Memphis, which isn't far from where I grew up. What is your e-address, please send to my e-mail address and we will continue. I have been to Salt Lake City, Utah, Mormon Library, it was wonderful but I was new at this, spent two wonderful weeks there fumbling around and wasn't working on the Davidson's. About four years ago I went to the Nashville, Tn. Archives and that is where I found my grandmother Laura Fleming Davidson's name as Laura Fleming Phelan in William C. Robertson's will. I plan to return to the archives since my mother I was caring for that had vascular dementia and passed away March 13, of recent days. I have been to the Trenton, Tn. courthouse and I plan on returning. I have been to the Memphis Library and I was working on another family name at that time. [email protected]

Remember that my mother brought up Issac Newton a lot of times but I haven't ever run across an Issac, have you? Daddy's brother was Harry Lee, so perhaps that Lee references the William Lee shown. Also, my daddy's sister was Rachel and I think that name went way back. There is no question about the Newton, it is definitely a surname used in our family prior to my grandfather, I think it stopped there; however, if you feel certain that we are related, then you are probably right because I have observed your search probs for a long time. I feel so strongly that I had an ancestor that had encountered a very bad experience there? Do you believe in this sort of para-normal things happening? I hope that you have a living male Davidson relative who would be willing to join the Davidson DNA project. I think your family may be my nearest living Davidson relations! Tell me if I have this right. George N Davidson (I had a middle name of Neil, not Newton, but that was not good data.) was born about 1847 in Tennessee. He was the oldest son of William F Davidson who was living in Bedford County at the time of the 1850 census. The family subsequently moved to Gibson county. William was the oldest son of Abner Davidson and Eliza Hall, both originally of Iredell county, NC. My gg-grandfather was John H. Davidson, William's brother. Here is a link to William from my web site. I have never been able to confirm that the Gibson county family was the same but I suspected that it was. Seeing the name Abner Hall almost confirms it. http://www.lislefamily.org/davidson/tng/getperson.php?personID=I10037&tree=davidson_main Please feel free to email off line. John Lisle Nashua, NH
