Hello, I am a fairly new subscriber to this newsletter and would like some help from anyone who has any information about my ancestors. My ggrandfather, Frank Harland/Holland Davison/Davidson came to Texas from Missouri around 1859 with is wife Mary Ann Thurman Davison and young son Frank, my grandfather. The ggrandfather apparently became ill and died somewhere along the way. I have been looking and searching for any information about parents or siblings of my ggrandfather. Any information would be great. I have not been successful in finding information about them in Missouri or elsewhere. The information I do have is that they came from Johnson County, Missouri. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Nelda Davison Faseler

This site was listed for genealogical reading on an email from another rootsweb list. It has quite a bit of information about Davidsons and early America. I think one of the Davidson listers was inquiring about a Rebecca Davidson marrying a Brevard and that is in there as well. At any rate it is interesting reading. http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/12953 ________________________________________________________________________ Check out AOL.com today. Cindi, You may be aware of this, but an apparent descendant of "your" George Washington Davidson (born 1851) has his DNA results posted on: http://www.tqsi.com/davidsongenes/results.php See kit number 25836 Per that entry (click on the kit number to see the posted lineage), George Washington Davidson also had a son named John Johnson Davidson, Sr. Unfortunately, the posted DNA result does not appear to be a real close match to ANY other DNA participant (there is about a 6-marker "mismatch" between 25836 and 24934 in the first 25 markers, so not real close at all). There does not appear to have been a real close "blood relationship" between "your" George Washington Davidson and ANY of the other Davidson families currently represented in the DNA test, but maybe some future participant will be a close match (so "stay tuned"). Kenneth, The Daniel Davidson (born about 1753) of whom you speak was the son of James Davidson "I," per the most thorough Davidson researcher that I have ever known. This Daniel Davidson eventually moved to Clay Co., KY. His wife seems unproven, but the surnames Copes and White have been "assigned" to her by some OTHER researchers (and Daniel had a known son named White Davidson). There was a marriage in Clay Co., KY where a Daniel Davidson married a Margaret Dyer. Some believe that this Daniel Davidson was probably the son of the above older Daniel, but the referenced researcher believes that this Daniel MIGHT have been the son of the William Davidson from this same overall Davidson family (this younger/"second" Daniel was apparently never shown as "Junior" in any records, and the relative ages/time-frames do not support him being a son of the older Daniel, as I understand it). Finally, there was a Daniel Davidson who married a Polly Miller in Clay Co., KY. Some believe that T! HIS man was a son of the older Daniel, but the referenced researcher now believes that this MIGHT have been the "old Daniel" marrying again (but no proof). There are two living males from the above overall Davidson family that have submitted DNA samples to the ongoing Davidson/Davison/Davisson DNA "testing project." You can see their results on the following link (see kit numbers 22069 and 31039). A third man who shows his lineage back to the above Daniel Davidson (born c. 1753) has his DNA results pending (see kit number 62154). If you click on a kit number, you can typically see the stated lineage for the DNA donor in each case. http://www.tqsi.com/davidsongenes/results.php If you know any living Davidson/Davison/Davisson males who are willing to join the project, they can "read all about it" on the following link: http://www.tqsi.com/davidsongenes/index.php Some very interesting results have become available lately, but there are still several known families for whom no sample (simple cheek swabs) has been provided. I believe that the cost of the test is very reasonable, especially since it is a "once in a lifetime" action. Sorry, I don't know much about the poet Donald Davidson. He "pops-up" once in a while when I do "Google searches." Bill Davidson

My George Washington Davidson was born in Alabama in 1851. He had one brother that we know of James. He married Angeline Williams in the early 1870's and had one son Jack Houston Davidson (my great grandfather). He later married Josephine McCain and had about 7 more children. They ended up in OK. Thanks for any help. Cindi ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill Davidson<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 09, 2006 10:15 AM Subject: Re: [DAVIDSON] Agnes, m. John VEST ca. 1770 Cindi, The name George Washington Davidson was, unfortunately, rather common in some of the various Davidson families in VA. Where was "your" George Washington Davidson born (or where did he live later)? Can you tell me anything about his family that may help me to "connect" him to one of the dozen or more "unrelated" Davidson/Davison/Davisson families that were in VA at various times between the 1600s and 1800s? Agnes Davidson (who married a Vest; see my prevous post) had a sister who was named Sarah Davidson. Sarah appears to have had two sons out of wedlock named Mosby Davidson and Edward Davidson. Per my records, Mosby Davidson (who married a Tankersley) had a son named George W. Davidson and a grandson named George Davidson, but neither appears to have been born in 1851. Mosby was eventually in Washington Co., VA with his wife and family, as well as with his elderly mother Sarah). Mosby's brother Edward APPEARS to have been the Edward Davidson who married Nancy Vest (her relationship to the husband of Agnes Davidson, if any, is unknown to me). Edward and Namcy (Vest) Davidson appeared on the 1850 Bedford Co., VA census (Edward was shown as age 60 in 1850). Edward and Nancy do not appear to have had a son named George. If you can tell me more about "your" George Washington Davidson, I might be able to help you.
