    3. John was my Hezekiah's brother. Sometimes it's hard to tell when names keep repeating. Mine was born in NC about 1773-1776. Guess we are related through Alexander Davidson father to both John and Hezekiah. 2. Hi Linda, Does the descendant information below match up with your Hezakiah? If so his brother, Elijah, (born 23 Feb 1783, NMN but often Internet reports as Barton) Davidson is my husband's Gt. Gt. Grandfather. Gene's Gt. Gt. I have obtained his name from my Great Grandmothers Marriage Certificate. She was Mary Davidson and she was 22 when she married Robert Jones 26 in Toxteth Park Liverpool on 9th July 1906. Roberts father was a mariner (also Robert Jones) and it notes Alexander Davidson as being a Boiler maker. My grandad has told me that his mother Mary, was born or at least lived in Maryport in Cumberland Northwest England and then they moved to live in Liverpool were they stayed (Mary died abt 1968) Mary according to the age on the marriage cert (please see the attached) would have been born 1883/84 but I know these ages can't be rellied upon. Yet I can not find anything for her or Alexander in any cencus return. My Grandad has said she had a sister called jinnie (then short for Jane) who lived in North Wales with her miner husband. If anyone has any poss links to Alexander please email me or reply to this post as my Grandfather is eager to know more about his parents family history.

Please note that a man named Young Davidson, who was from Campbell Co., VA, was ALSO in Barren a little later, and he was apparently from yet a third Davidson family. There are a couple of living Davidsons in the DNA project who had relatives from Campbell Co., VA, and it strongly appears that they were from the same overall Davidson family as Young Davidson. The DNA from these two living people does not match the DNA from the family of Alexander Davidson nor the DNA from my family.

My James Davidson who was married to Nancy Unknown (probably in 1783) had the following children: Richard, Nancy, Susan, Alexander, Reuben, Margaret, Elizabeth and possibly Joshua. Are these the same children as yours by any chance? Florence

    2. James Davidson, born 1780, married Nancy Isbell in 1800. The marriage license is on file. However, there is a little gap here. My great grand father, William Samuel Davidson, was married to a Nancy. It might be Nancy Isbell. GGF William Samuel Davidson was born in 1811, lived and farmed in Cherokee County, North Carolina. I have good records of his children, but I would like to verify the maiden name of his wife Nancy. James Alfred Davidson

    1. DNA Match!-Josiah Davidson and Hezekiah Davidson-VA/NC/TN
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Davidson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FNR.2ACEB/3237 Message Board Post: I am a descendant of Hezekiah Davidson of Albemarle and then Cumberland Co., VA (where he died in 1793). My DNA is a "perfect" 25/25 marker match to a descendant of Josiah Davidson (born 1766 somewhere in VA, per a later census). This Josiah Davidson was later in Guilford/Orange Co., NC (where he joined the Rev. War), then KY and then Hickman Co., TN. Records indicate that this Josiah Davidson was the apparent son of a William and Elizabeth Davidson (who were also in Guilford Co., VA with Josiah and his siblings). I have always suspected that "my" Hezekiah Davidson MIGHT have been related to the "primary" Davidson family that was in Buckingham Co., VA in 1761 when that county was created from a part of Albemarle Co., VA (headed by possible brothers named Edward, David and William Davidson). With the new DNA results, I now wonder if the father of the above Josiah Davidson was perhaps from Buckingham Co., VA . There were three William Davidsons on the 1764 Buckingham tithe list, and one of them was the apparent son of David Davidson (and the apparent brother of yet another Josiah Davidson who died in Appomattox Co., VA in the 1850s in his 80s). If anyone has information that would "connect" the William and Josiah Davidson who were in Guilford Co., NC, and later in Hickman Co., TN, back to Buckingham Co., VA, please let me know. Thanks! Note: The Josiah Davidson from Buckingham who died in Appomattox Co., VA in the 1850s was born close to the same time as the other Josiah Davidson (1766-1767), so I am concerned that some people may have incorrectly "mixed" them in their research.
