    3. Hi, Normally, I would be responding to a message board posting by posting at the message board. However, as the List Admin, I happen to know that the person who posted this message is a subscriber. ;-) But let me remind again, that when you see a message that comes from a Message Board like this one, you need to reply to the Message Board. Also, I have been alerted that with the new Mailer program, I have to approve all of these messages before they hit the list. At least until the software is fixed... So, they will not post to the list as quickly as they had in the past. Now... to the genealogy... This is a famous document in Davidson genealogy. This John is claimed by several families; however, I believe that the weight of the evidence is that he is the John Davidson who was the early settler of Iredell County, North Carolina, and whom we have come to name as "Importation" (or Import) John. Here is what I have on him. Be sure to look through the notes that I have recorded. http://www.lislefamily.org/davidson/tng/getperson.php?personID=I00397&tree=davidson_main There is more at the Davidson research site. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~genea/davidson.html john. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FNR.2ACEB/3257.1.2.1 Message Board Post: If you go to: http://www.tqsi.com/davidsongenes/results.php and look at Family 1 at the top of the page, you will see several people from this family who have submitted their DNA to the Davidson/Davison/Davisson testing project. If you click on any of the "kit numbers" on the left side of the screen, you can see additional information provided by the member/donor in each case. The man who runs the above DNA website (John Lisle) also has his own/separate Davidson Family website at: http://davidson.lislefamily.org/ This is the best resource on the family of the John Davidson who was typically called "The Immigrant" (and who lived for a while in the Beverly Manor tract in the Orange/Augusta Co., VA area). I would encourage you to join the DNA testing program. The first link provided above is the "Results Page" of the DNA website. If you go from there to the "Home Page," you can read about DNA and/or click on "Join Now" to see the prices for the various options. It is recommended that men select at least the 25 marker test (and 37 is even better), since doing only 12 markers is just not very conclusive. I hope the above is helpful.

    1. [DAVIDSON] Davidson, Mayes and Rutherford Connection?
    2. I would love to hear from anyone who has a Davidson -- Mayes -- Rutherford connection. I am looking for marriages in the late 1700s. The location could be Pennsylvania, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia or Illinois. Thanks, Anna Gayle

    1. [DAVIDSON] DNA research project for Davidsons
    2. I would like to encourage other Davidson researchers to participate in the FTDNA Davidson/Davison project. The DNA test must be given by a male Davidson. However, females can order the kit for a male Davidson to submit for research. Today, all 37 of my markers have been placed with a family group. I (we) have a couple of exact matches. Maybe more. Exact matches means there is a mutual direct ancestor. Now the fun begins in finding the patriarch male Davidson in my family. I am pleased to say one of my matches is someone I have been working with for a long time. We felt sure we were related -- this DNA test proves it. It is a great opportunity and I am already hearing from researchers looking for the same Davidson ancestors. Long way to fine tuning things -- but I consider this project a big success. It is far more than a shot in the dark. I cannot say enough for the people who are volunteering their time for the Davidson project. They have helped me with ever question -- within the day. 1. [DAVIDSON] Update to RootsWeb list software
    2. John Lisle
    3. Hi, I just got a notice that the Davidson, Davison, and Davisson lists are about to be migrated to the new list software almost immediately, if not already. Most of you will hardly notice. The biggest changes that you should see are: 1/ You may need to update your email filters. The address for sending mail is changing to [email protected] from [email protected] (ditto for other lists.) You may continue to send to the -L email address, but new people will be instructed to move to the new address. It will happen slowly, but it is happening. 2/ Digest mode is changing. If you are subscribed to digest mode and list mode, it seems you will be switched to digest only. Contact me PRIVATELY if this is not what you want. If you want to subscribe to both list and digest, you need to subscribe through different email addresses. You will be sent some details before (just before???) the change. As always, please feel free to ask questions. I will get you answers. john List Admin.
