Hello Bob and All, I, too, am very interested in the Francis connection. I thank you again Bob for the information you shared with me regarding the NJ branch. Similar dates and places suggest that Francis Davenport (1718-1798) is the son of Isaac Davenport (?-1749). Doc suggested that Isaac traveled south to Granville Co. NC. He and his son's (Francis, Joseph, James and Isaac) activities are well documented in this area. Francis moved to Newberry and Francis's son William moved on to Greenville. The Granville NC records contain many names, some of which continue on to Newberry. Some random surnames that are associated with the Davenports in Granville include: Christian, Lawrence, Thornton, Weldon, Person, Fowler, Slaughter, Lewis, Peelor, Wilkerson, Cook, Hunter, Haywood, Satterwhite, Bullock, Specific Names include: John Walace, John Hunter, James Williams, Abraham Cooke, James Mitchell, Edmond Cartledge, Charles Gilliam, Nathaniel Daugherty,. DAR records have Francis born in VA. There is a Francis Davenport, soldier, listed in the Rev. War Rec. of VA by Brumbaugh. I do not believe them to be the same Francis. I hope this encourages others to respond. Now we have our own enigma. Phil Triebes Newberry Dav's.
