Earliene, I found the following early in my research and I will give it to you. I can't swear it is correct, but some of the names overlap. Old Rappahannock Co. Records(out of Lancaster Co lasted 1656-1692) 1671: Joan DAVENPORT and Margaret his wife sell 580a to Richard Barber. 1683: Will of John names wife, sons:George, John,William and Fortunatus. George m Ruth? and had Margaret, Sarah and Elizabeth. He d 1734 His will in Richmond Co.I show nothing for John and Fortunatus. William(John) m Rachel Hog(could be widow w/maiden name Wood) they had three sons named: John, William and Wood. William (John) d 1716.Will in Lancaster Co. for Wm in 1716 and 1719. I don't have information on John or Wood, but William's info moves to Richmond Co and shows he m Elizabeth Heale d/o George Heale Nov 1728. It lists only three sons: William Jr.B 1735, George and Fortunatus b 1738. A1772 will in Richmond Co shows a William d 1772. George d 1760 and A Fortunatus in 1779. George m Mary? and had at least Nancy and John. Fortunatus m Elizabeth? and names John, Joseph, Betty(Eliz)Heale and Rachel. OPINION***From time lines and naming repetition, I felt that Davis had brothers John and William, but have never been able to prove it.Children of Davis's son Martin spelled their name DEAVENPORT and they could write.Early NC settlers in Eastern NC also spell their name the same way and used the same names for several generations. Can anyone connect them??????????????? I feel you have done more work on this line of the family, but it does seem that they come from John. I hope this helps. I would like to know about the William that m Comfort Fisher since they were part of the NC migration. Elaine in NC
