    3. To Ann Graham and other interested Newberry researchers: Ann... I believe, but am not sure, because I am getting old and the memory is getting very selective, that we have corresponded before about our common ancestry. But right now, I am using a laptop at a cabin, and am away from my main computer and my files. What I have is that James Davenport was born in 1742, his wife was Elizabeth Gillam (Gilliam?). I am descended from their son, Charles, but I believe they had another son who was either James Madison, or his son was James Madison. I believe James (1742) had no middle name, and did not serve in the Revolution. There are one or more DAR records which attribute a middle name of Madison to James (1742). I believe this false submission to the DAR was made so that somebody could claim lineage to 1742 James. In fact, I believe James was a loyalist, and not a patriot. Well, without my files, I better stop before my memory plays tricks on us both. Please stay in touch, and maybe together, along with a couple of others on this list, we can make some progress. I'd like a copy of that letter, Ellen, if you ever find it. Thanks to all.
