    1. Re: [DAVENPORT-L] Re: Mary Davenport & James Stone
    2. To Mike (tusweca): You're in luck. I searched through census records and found 55 James Stones, about 15 of whom lived in central or southern Illinois. But then I checked for marriage records and found this: Davenport, Mary married Stone, James on 26 Apr 1849 in Jackson County, Illinois There are two James in the census records for the year 1860, probably father and son. The 1860 censuses will list husband, wife and children's names so you know which one is right. 1860 Census: STONE JAMES Jackson County IL Pg.404 Jones Creek P.O. 1860 Census: STONE JAMES Jackson County IL Pg.362 Bradley P. O. Probably your best bet is to do 3 things: First, Write to the Jackson County Historical Society, Box 7, Murphysboro, Il. 62966, and ask for any information on these two. Then, obtain their marriage certificate from the Jackson County Clerk,, 1001 Walnut St., Murphysboro, Il. 62966. Call 618-684-2151 for their fee. Then, order the 1860 census microfilm for Jackson County from your local library or LDs Family History Center. With a date and a county, you now have a good foundation to start your research! Good luck, and let me know if I can help. MargoBelle
