    1. [DAVENPORT] Davenport-Cole Connection in North Carolina
    2. I have a history question, so JerseyDoc if you are reading this-please help! I have an 1850 census record for Michigan indicating that a Sarah Cole, age 15, being from "Ca". Does this stand for Carolina? If so, are there any connections in the North Carolina Davenports for a Cole family? My Davenport line in Michigan moved from Manchester, Ontario Co., New York, with a Humphrey Davenport, born 1767, married to Lucretia, children John (b. 4 June 1801), Cornelius (b. April 13, 1803), Rachel (b. 01 August 1811) and Abram (b. 1818). While these children were born in New York, as were most of their children, the above mentioned Sarah is listed living in the household of one of John's sons. We do not know where Humphrey and Lucretia are from, except that they seemed to migrate from New York with two other families headed by a John Decker and a Benjamin Cole to settle together in Michigan. The migration pattern north seems to go against the tide of those moving south and west or am I mistaken? Or does the "Ca" stand as an abbreviation for something else? Any info appreciated, DEBBIE
