    1. [DAVENPORT] Davenports in Michigan
    2. To Debbie: Doc is correct in saying that William Fouts Davenport (1824-1902), my gg-gfather, also lived in Michigan. He had married Jemima Stanley in Wayne Co. In. in 1842 and they had 4 children in Indiana: Ellen Jane Davenport (1844-1866), Warren/Warner Davenport 1846-?, William Henry Davenport 1848-? and Jesse Lewis Davenport 1851-? They moved to Newaygo Co. Mi. sometime around 1851. My great-grandfather Edwin Francis Davenport was born there in 1856, then Byron S. Davenport was born in 1861. William and Jemima divorced sometime after 1880. William moved back to Carroll Co. Indiana where he then married Elizabeth Racard, then Rebecca Williamson. He died in Indiana in 1902. Jemima stayed in Michigan, moving to Paris (Mecosta Co.) Mi. where she died in 1894. She never remarried. 5 of their 6 children married in Michigan, either Newaygo Co. or Mecosta Co: Ellen Jane in 1862, Warren/Warner in 1864, William Henry in 1870, Jesse Lewis in 1874, and Byron S. in 1888. Edwin was a schoolteacher in Michigan. He moved to New Orleans where he went into the newspaper business and married my great-grandmother Margaret Louise Bolet in 1886. They moved around a lot, eventually settling in Austin, Texas where he died in 1931. I don't know if we have any Michigan connections or not! I do know that the names Byron, Lewis and Edwin appear over and over in my line. MargoBelle
